When Will Dish Fix the New Alaska/Hawaii HD Packages

So now we're just missing HDNET Movies and Universal?

Since those are plat channels, I wonder if they are gone until they maybe re-emerge as part of some kind of HI/AK platinum pak in the future. Too bad - I miss both of them, especially HDNMV. :(

As for fixes, the conus 129 channels still show up in the guide for Hawaii, but about a week ago, my 722 stopped looking for them every time I turned it on. Locking out the "available" yet un-attainable 129 conus premium channels keeps them from messing up searches and dish pass.

Do you have this problem? Every day when I turn my 622 on for the first time, it gets stuck on the acquiring satellite signal message. When I go through the menu, 6-1-1, it is on sat 129. I need to change the sat to 110 or 119, then cancel out to the acquiring satellite signal message. Only then will it go through it's complete process. If I don't do it first thing in the morning before I leave for work, the receiver will not record anything that day until I do what I said above. Any thoughts? I have a dish 500h for 110/119 and a separate dish for 129.

Up until some time last week, my 722 would get stuck aquiring a signal every morning, but I just let it sort things out while I fed the dog, chickens, goats, etc. and by the time I got back to the house (about 20 min. later), it had usually finished the whole aquire signal and then download the guide cycle. For several days now, it hasn't been doing that at all. I turn it on and it brings up a channel right away. It got fixed somehow.

DJ Maui-
Do you know many people who upgraded to the HD GOld package? Meaning they have a dish pointed at 129. Here on Oahu, it doesn't seem like many people know about it and retailers don't seem to be installing dishes at that location. Most people have DTV anyway. Makes me sick

We used to have the HI/AK HD pak. It originally had 10 channels and grew here and there over the last year or so. The big additions last month triggered a big change in the HI & AK HD packaging. It is now similar to the rest of the country, with different levels of HD programming to match the level that you subscribe to. The 30 HD channels on the 129 spot are actually bronze. The silver and gold stuff is actually at 110.

In my neighborhood in Upcountry Maui, Direct 1.3 meter dishes have been sprouting like weeds and I see few Dish Network dishes going up. I asked a neighbor why he went with Direct last year and he said that they told a better story of what would be coming soon (more channels and a one-dish solution).

Now that Dish has a bunch of channels and room for a bunch more for Hawaii (and Alaska), plus a possible one-dish only days away, they are poised to jump ahead.

two dish Hawaii HD?

is it possible with a HI Classic Silver 200 with Hawaii HD package (two dishes looking at 110 and 119, one slightly larger than the other), to move one of the dishes toward the 129 direction to see if a check switch will find any of the 129 HD programs?

Update on my one dish install:

I called Microcom to make sure everything was on schedule. Surprise, they don't have the new dish on island so I am rescheduled for June 19th.

I think you need 119 for program guide and software downloads, so moving your 110 dish temporarily to 129 could give you an idea how well you can pull in the 129 spot channels. That spot is smokin' hot. You may be able to pull it in with a really small dish. I think Nelson61 said a 20" dish should work.

And it still sounds like a 110/119/129 one dish? :hungry:

The Microcom installed has been at my home on the Big Island for the past few hours. He installed a new Dish aimed at 129 (I already have two other dishes pointed at 110 and 119). While he was able to get a signal on 129. The new HD channels don't show up on the Channel Guide. After talking with the Dish tech people, they indicate that they are unable to add the Hawaii Gold package to my account. They are going to deal with it on Monday and see if they can determine the problem.

Anybody from the Islands have any idea what I can do to receive the 30 HD channels on 129?

Tell them you want to change from the 9.99 HD package to the 10.00 HD package. I know that sounds stupid, but it makes a difference as to what your receiver can see. They may need to re-hit your box. That's what did it for me after spending nearly 3 hours talking to their tech reps. Do you have a red X under 129 in your check switch?

I just spoke with a Dish rep. He insists that the correct HD package to receive the 129 programming has been added to my account. He believes that the installer did not point the new 129 dish correctly. The installer says the 129 dish was installed properly. The rep is sending another installer to my home on Monday.

Also, I don't have a red X under 129 on the check switch. It is a regular blue/black one. The installer indicated that this configuration was the case with the other 129 dishes he has installed. However, in those instances the new 129 HD channels showed up in the guide.

Can you get channel 5546 HBO-W? Before they changed my package in Alaska I was able to get 5545 HBO-W. If you can get that your dish is fine.

I can't get 5546. I think my dish is not fine.

Thanks for your help.

Are you able to lock on to any of the signals from 129? Try different transponders, I think 16 works. If you can lock on to them, than the dish is fine. Did you ask the rep how much your HD package was? Run a check switch test. Does it say OK or does a red X show up under 129?

I was not able to lock on to any of the 129 signals, including 16. I ran the check switch test with no success. When I do the check switch test in the "satellite" column it reads 110 (green OK), 119 (green OK), "Conn" (blue/black X). The installer referred to the Conn notation as an "error message" and indicated that it was present in his other two 129 installs. He said that the error message notwithstanding, the 129 HD channels came up.

The Dish rep indicated that the cost of my HD package was $10/month as opposed to the $9.99 cost of the previous limited Hawaii/Alaska HD package. This price indicated to him that I was authorized to have access to the new Hawaii Gold HD package.

Thanks for your help.

Added the new HD channels for a penny and lost 5511 HDNMV and 5512 UNIHD, and now they tell me there is no 5512 and I can only get HDNMV on 5351 which is a nogo.

This sounds similar to the problem I had with my install. The birddog the tech was using to align the dish was giving a false reading, so he had to come out and realign the dish. Once he did that, everything was fine, although I do have the red X in my check switch that everyone else is talking about.
