Dish Programming Changes (Effective August 1st)

Dish had better decide what they are doing. Right now, the HD & Platinum option is the only way for customers who aren't already subscribed to PlatinumHD to gain access to the platinum channels.

I have Americas Everything Pack & HD Gold. Called Dish but the first CSR had not ideal about the Platinium pack being removed. A supervisor gave me the channels without any extra fees.

i have aep ss euronews rsn and hd gold plus platnium

i called india and asked for 10 dollars off for 12 months, instead i got hbo/showtime free for 3 months plus 5 dollars off for 10 months

Perhaps it's specific to those of us on the annual package. Unless I missed it, I haven't heard anyone with an annual package say they've been able to get this added successfully. Someone earlier said they were told by the CSR that the software wouldn't allow them to add the package unless they switched to monthly. Maybe that's the technical difficulty.

Score! The Platinum HD channels are now active on my receiver. If you're an annual subscriber, don't give up!

I don’t have time to read the 40 pages on this thread so please forgive me but... Did I do something wrong. I logged on to my account at Dish network on August 1 and canceled my platinum package. Now I only have a few of the platinum stations left (hdnet, pldia, hdthr) and have lost the other ones (hdnet movies, mav, fashon, wfn, mgm, and a few others). Are these stations not offered any more? I currently have BronzeHD, Classic Bronze 100. Thanks for any info.

The stations you have left are NOT and have never been part of Platinum. Sorry.

You need to call Dish or use the on-line chat to add the pack back but this time at no cost.

See ya
Tony

Its true on the annual accounts, they are locked until the period of time is done.

I sort of understand the reason why they do that. The reason for that is when you pay annually you get a discounted rate. Any changes and you would lose the discount.

Thats one of the drawbacks for locking in for a year unfortunately.

The thing is, they never told me this when I went to change my package. They just told me it was done and I did not know about the issue until I saw that my HD channels disappeared and never came back and then when I called in they said they had to remove the HD package. I am now in worse shape than what I was before unless I just do away with HD altogether. I did finally get them to give me credit for one month's of service to make up for it but I guess I will have to see if I really do see that credit. This has been such a hassle that I thought about just dropping HD altogether. If I do that then will they want their leased 722 back?

I don't think they will want the 722 back but without a HD package you will get hit up with the "HD enabling fee". I think in the neighborhood of $7.

Someone here can correct me if I am wrong.

There is no more HD enabling fee, Dish dropped that a few months ago.

In stargazers case, I would drop HD then call back and add it again and that would fix his issue.

Somebody needs to tell Dish that then.

When I added Platinum yesterday by deselecting HD and then selecting the new package that came up, after the first step it put a big red notice on the top of the page that if I don't have HD on my 622, I'll be charged a fee.

I added Platinum on Sunday they said it would be free
got my new bill dated August 5th and shows a charge of 10 dolllars for
Platinum.

As mentioned in previous post, I have an annual subscription but was able to get the HD & Platinum package added via web chat. The billing changes showed up today. There is a credit for removing a month of "Gold HD" (my previous HD package) and a new charge for exactly the same amount for "HD & Platinum". Net result - no change in bill, as I had been told.

It may have said that but they can't charge it. Eastern arc is all mpeg 4 only so they can't charge those SD customers the HD fee because they can only use HD boxes. It may have said that but they won't charge it.

After having had the platinum channels for a few days now, some are good and some don't interest me.

MAVTV - This channel has some odd programming. There is a show called Fitness Beauties where they film women in spandex exercising. Not as exciting as it sounds but maybe it would give me motivation if I watch it while working out? Next I tried a show called Roof Top Comedy. The comedians were actually pretty funny. Last night I tuned into a program called Rad Girls where three girls were peeling gum off the bottom of a desk and eating it. Won't be watching Rad Girls again. Roller Derby is coming up this afternoon. Might be fun.

UNIHD - Seems to show mostly older James Bond movies. I've recorded You Only Live Twice.

BETJ - Have not found anything interesting yet.

LOGO - Have not found anything interesting yet.

FTV - I love seeing beautiful clothes so this channel is fun in small doses. This channel reminds me of Europe. They had it in all the hotels I stayed in a few years ago. Makes me excited for the new season of Project Runway too.

HDNMV - Old movies. Might find something good here.

MGM - Old movies. Recorded a couple of Sherlock Holmes movies. One turned out to be a comedy. Have a couple more timers set. Looks like a block of horror movies is coming up.

CI - No interest in watching crime scenes.

WFN - No thanks.

NBATV - Looking forward to having this when NBA season starts again.

NHLN -No thanks

Overall, not a package that I would have paid for but glad to have it thrown in with HD.
