As you can see from the pictures I think hat the trees are keeping me from getting a good signal on 110w or 119w. But I can get 91w that is a few degrees to the right. If anyone has any advice/ pointers to defeat these trees...if they where on my property I wouldn't have a problem taking a few down....but the city owns them so that isn't an option.

I'm not familiar with that I will do some research about it and try and figure that out. I think I found a go place to clear trees in my back yard so Im going to be looking at that option this weekend when I have some time off from work.

I swear that looks like the my roof & trees. I had the Western Arc for years (110/119 and then 129) with no problems until the trees grew so large it was no longer reliable. Dish swapped me out to an Eastern Arc dish/1000.4. Problem solved. If you have a clear view to the Southeast then it'll solve your problem.
Good luck!

Well I got in the backyard yesterday and I cleared out some trees and I was able to get 119w to lock....still cant get 110w to lock. I'm using a 500 dish and Dish Pro Quad LNB. I thought that once you had one locked on it would pick up the other one am I wrong to think this? I could also be that I'm only using a tripod to see if it was even going to work back where I cleared so that could be it....

You're probably picking up 119 on the 110 lnb. This is a common problem when pointing a multi-lnb dish. Mark the present location so you can come back to where you are if things go south. Then swing the dish about 9 degrees to the left and see if you get a signal. Sometimes it helps to cover one of the lnbs with foil so you know the signal is coming from the correct lnb.

thanks for the tip I will give this a try this weekend when I have some time. Thanks again for all the tips you have provided me.

Well i got out there this weekend and I tried to point the dish at the correct sats this weekend. I am in fact tracking the 119w on on the 110 LNB just couldn't seem to pick it up on the 119 LNB I spent the greater part of Sunday trying to get it to come in. Thanks for the help though.

Check all the settings on the dish. Be sure skew and elevation are correct for your area. If you can't get them all in at the same time, check into upgrading and getting eastern arc. If it is an L.O.S. issue, Dish might set you up for Eastern Arc sat.'s for free. Tell them you'll have to cancel if you can't get signal. They will probably work with you on it. Good Luck and Happy Hunting!

Reception of one satellite is no guarantee of the others in a mult-sat dish. Reception of signal into the wrong LNB (as discussed) is a problem. Further, receiving both the 110 and 119 on a 500 is only the start - from there, maximizing the signal of both of them, simultaneously, is the goal.

If you are receiving 119, it is likely that you've got line of sight over those trees because 119 is lower in the sky (elevation) than 110. If you are seeing through a reasonable size "hole" in the trees you could be able to get 119 and not 110. For that reason (and your second try in a new location with the same results) I think you are just off on elevation and AZ.

I would suggest that your elevation is too low on the dish. If you failed to set the elevation of the dish 2 degrees higher than dish charts recommend for a 500 (i.e. dish says elevation = 38, then set dish at 40) this (in combination with incorrect AZ) would lead to similar results as yours.

Assuming plumb, and that you are just 2 degrees low on elevation, then after adding 2 degrees, move the dish to the left to find both.

Super Signal! How to get the best signal possible!

I hope these help.

thanks for the support have been a huge help, my dish is pointed through a huge hole in the trees that I have created, and isn't plumb but I have learned to live with only 119 channels. I have a friend that installs dish coming over this weekend for a case of beer to point this thing for me.
