LOL just another common sense blunder. Thank goodness the NHL doesn't enforce. Dish blacks out NCAA and NBA replays, does Directv as well?

Blackouts are controlled by the league, not the TV provider. So, yes, Directv blacks these out as well.

Blackouts are something that will NEVER ever be completely understood. They have never made any sense to me and they probably never will unless their policies change. And yes, it's not the provider that does the blackout, it's the sport itself. And replay blackouts are beyond insane and NO bit of trying to explain that to me will ever make me understand.

So by this thread can I safely assume that the NHL does NOT black out replays? I had considered the sports package (at $6 per month) as an option to Center Ice (at $160+/year) but I was not sure if I would get replays.

The NHL channel DOES black out replays. I tuned in last night to a replay of the Penguins vs. Ducks game of 11/16/09 and got the ''not available" message. I live in the L.A. area.

The NHL blacks out replays in the teams local market. So any replay involving the MN Wild for me is blacked out being in MN. The rest I can see

I was at first blacked out of the Sharks/Hawks replay on NHL Network and a day before the replay it was removed.

say wha????????

I don't see any blackouts on 436 for live and replay games. I get blacked out of freakin Twins classic games. MLB is the king of special ed.

on the NHL Network...I was referring to grb's post. Sorry I didnt make that clear

You are blacked out of Twins Classics on 436 because you are in the Brewers territory. You get 436 because there isnt a FSN Wisconsin full time on either Dish. You should be blacked out of the Wolfies though

So how long does the replay blackout last? I mean, if a game is replayed on NHL a week after it was played, is it still subject to blackout? How about a year later?

I think the blackout for NHL Network is the next day. Example is tonight.

MN Wild play Vancouver on HNIC. For folks in MN its on FSN North. The last time the Wild were on HNIC in October, we were blacked out for the replay the next day on NHL Network.

In most cases, replays after the next day are not blacked out

I can't speak for NHL games as I don't watch hockey, but you'll never see replays of out of market MLB games, even if the games are 20 years old. I think the NBA is the same way, but I'm not sure. The only way to see these replays (old old games) is if they're shown via the MLB Network which, of course, Dish doesn't have.

The MLB games are blacked out on the multisports pack. I know ehren mentioned that he was blacked out of "Twins Classics" on FSN North which is "part" of his RSN package

I say that as he is in Wisconsin so they are given FSN North but blacked out of pro sports. He gets the Wisco games on alternate channels

NHL Network replays suck anyway! Why in the hell do they show the scores from previous day's games at the bottom of the screen?

I cut up a cardboard box yesterday so that I could strategically fill that part of the screen and watch the Toronto/Washington HNIC HD coverage wihtout learning the score before the game was actually over.

I agree Adam
In Canada there is TSN (the main sports network) and TSN2 which shows live games but usually is a 3 hour delay. They do the same thing

So I'm watching TSN2 replay of the SNF game and in the corner it shows the score.....UGH!!!

STO, SNY and a few others show "classic" MLB games for their respective teams. These are blacked out as well. I wanted to watch a Mets classic but could not. Blacked out. BTW I live outside the region local to SNY. Why this is, I have no idea.
