I just moved and the new house doesn't have an outdoor attenna. I will be living in town and don't want to pay for hd locals (which I don't think they offer yet in my market) when I can get them from free. I'll be replacing one vip 722 and one 510 for two 612. So I will have one vip722 and two 612. Can I just go to the store and buy just any attenna and hook it up to all the dish boxes? Right now I can get local channels using a coat hanger hooked up to a converter box so I'm thinking that I don't need something too expensive. I just don't want to have to install an anntenna on the roof and run wires to every dish box if all I can do is by three cheap $15 ones from the store and hook it up them too the back of each dish box.

That might work

That might actually work however i'm not that cheap. Then again it probably work better then a $10 one from wally world.

Run a search on AntennaWeb to find out what channels you have and where they are in relationship to you. Once you do that you will have a much better idea what antenna you need.

As o Feb 1st you will be REQUIRED to have locals if they are offered in your market. So you cant save any money:( Charlie wants it all:(

Quit feeding E the satellite piggir!

In addition search 612 I never had one but many posters here report troubles with that model

You keep saying it but we haven't seen you do it. Put up or shut up. CHURN: I want to know how you like FIOS?

I need yellow

Did the test on antennaweb and it says i need a yellow antenna. I take that as being the low end antenna. I already have locals so I guess I'm paying for them anyway but not hd locals. I like to have antenna hook up anyway so i can record locals in HD.

Sounds good

Now you can go to your local store that sells antennas and have a starting point. they should have a color chart for the yellow on it.

The bundle will save me serious bucks. But right now i am swamped at work 14 hour days dont leave time for shopping, and i need to be here for install, cant miss a day of work to babysit a installer.

hey I take business when it comes$$

It appears during the 2 weeks of snow daily weather most of my customers decided to wait till the weather improved.

its better now and the phone is busy...... and i am tired:(

where it applies

You could've put this in a thread where I actually said this instead of one where I didn't. I really hope that FIOS will make you happy. If I were to live in an area that had it I might consider it. But since all of the areas where I live & will be living are too small won't have a chance.

If you are in a yellow area try a simple set of rabbit ears they may work great for your OTA needs. For 3 receivers you may need 3 rabbit ears but no roof mounting.

You can make an antenna that will work amazingly well for next to nothing.

I made a really big 4 bay antenna that's in my attic, and I'm picking up stations 40-60 miles away with incredible signal strength.

After I told my co-worker about it (he also needed a "yellow" antenna), he built the antenna in the picture I attached, and it's just sitting behind his TV. He said his signal strength improved anywhere from 10-20% on each channel.

It only takes about 30 minutes to make, and the results are incredible!

lol, i'm just saying that a more expensive antenna might not give you better results. don't equate more expensive models of antennas to getting better reception. i made one of those just to try it out and get stations from 70 miles away, and they look great and are stable signals. just saying.
