Pricing Update from Dish Network

E appears to be making some changes:)

DONT muck with your best customers they can become your worst enemies:)

Bob
To be perfectly honest, Im getting a little sick of hearing about how Dish is screwing over THEIR BEST CUSTOMERS and YOU ARE SO IMPORTANT, and THEY SHOULD CATER TO ME!!
Why are you (or the "high end" customers) so much more important than me, the "little guy" customer? I actually stand to SAVE money!!! by this new pricing structure. And all I hear is how dumb Dish is for charging its "important" customers more, while my bill will actually go down.

Please be careful with your comments, starting to get under my skin.
I know you are mad with Dish, but you are starting to get really annoying

Have you noted MOST increase is just on the high end sub? and remember I BOUGHT my boxes.

Targeting one class of customer to pay a entire increase is bad form....

sorry if it bothers you......

but think if you were me?

5 buck extra box fees went to 17 bucks. overnite.

I suppose if any customer can afford the price increase it would be the high end customer though. Dish really can't afford to increase the cost the strict budget customer.

My February bill from Dish cut over the weekend and there was no charge to the pricing on my February bill, so I contacted one of my contacts who explained to me that the pricing changes will happen on your bills which are cut after February 1st.

Ok that makes sense to me. :)

If you want a rough esitmate of how much your bill is going up (or in a few cases DOWN) then please check out http://www.satelliteguys.us/calc.htm :)

Yup SatelliteGuys does it again. ;)

Interesting....

So, here's mine;

AT250: $57.99
Gold HD/Platinum: $10.00
622 HD Duo DVR: $12.00 (shown as $17.00-$5.00 credit for being connected to phone line prior to 2/1)
Locals: $5.00
Encore Movie Pak: Included
DVR Service Fee: $6.00
Service Plan: $6.00

Total: $96.99, or a $0.95 decrease!

Could it be true?

The key is the $5.00 credit for having the duo receivers connected to the phone line. In this tool the credit is being applied if you have it connected but they've never mentioned in the Retailer Chat or in any of the information that Scott posted before.

My bill initally was going up $11.00 (2 extra 622 receivers) and $1.00 for the DVR fee ($57.99 before, now $58.99). With this tool is going up just $1.00.

The $5 phone line credit is going away. Folks having multiple dual-tuner DVRs are going to take it in the shorts. I'm really not opposed to the new pricing structure since it aligns receiver prices with cable...however asking a customer to pay $17 per months for duo-DVR that they purchased is insane (the same fees as those leasing the equipement). Additionally, if Cable set-top-boxes break the Cable/Telco company replaces it free-of-charge and with no strings attached (no shipping, service call, additional committment, etc.).

I rarely agree with Bob, but he has every right to complain about this issue. Of course, at some point he will need to cancel service and move on to another provider. I don't feel bad for Bob since he lives in a FiOS area. FiOS TV rocks!!!

There is talk now that existing subscribers who have their phone lines hooked up before 2/1 will get a $5 credit. This is not confirmed though.

Does that apply to broadband also? I have both of my receivers hooked up via broadband, but only my primary receiver is hooked to my phone, because it would be a pain in the butt to run a phone line from my Vonage router downstairs to the upstairs receiver.

Yes I would assume so. :)

Scott, do you happen to know when they started including the lease fee for the first receiver in the programming fee?

Per above I have the silver/200 package and am being charged a 7.00 lease fee on my one receiver a VIP 622.

At one point in the past I'm sure that each and every receiver had a lease fee, but this has changed as described in the dishnetwork FAQ.

Edit: So after another hour on chat I learn that I'm being charged 7 because my 622 was leased in 2006 when a lease fee applied. They say the only way to get rid of the charge is upgrade my receiver and sign another 24 month contract. I told them that Direct would be glad to give me a better deal and I've been transferred to a loyalty rep. The loyalty rep tells me that the problem has already been fixed by the CSR I talked to earlier in the day who said that he couldn't help me. His manager must have fixed it. I wish I'd argued this earlier as it doesn't look like they are going to give me back the money they overcharged me for the past year.

I just had a very similar issue with my 722, although I only started leasing it in late 2007. After getting no results from CSR or the "contact us" e-mail on the site, I sent an e-mail to "ceo@dishnetwork.com", outlining all of the places on the web and my bill that stated the first receiver's fee was included in the package.

Within a week, I received a credit for 25 months' worth of those fees ($175). So it CAN be done.

I'm still not sure how my bill will look with regards to my 2nd rcvr (original 501 PVR) - anyone know? I was always under the impression that I would never have to pay DVR fees for this unit (grandfathered in) - customer since 2001.

I'm showing a 3.00 increase using the tool (1st rcvr 722, Gold250 + HD, 2 premiums, etc, etc) but didn't know what to put in for 2nd rcvr - didn't see a 501 in the drop down pick list.

Thanks.
