I just read on the Baltimore Sun website that Jon Miller will be inducted into the Hall of Fame this summer. One of the truly great voices of the game. Just might be enough to coax me to make the trip.

Miller is one of the best I have heard. Great set of pipes. Does some fantastic impressions of other announcers.
ONce did an impression of a Japanese( spoke in Japanese) baseball announcer in the voice of Vin Scully. Hilarous.

This is great for Jon Miller. I like him a lot.

I am still disappointed that Joe Nuxhall didn't get in though. :(

In tribute to Frick, the award for career excellence in baseball broadcasting was created in 1978. Though they are sometimes erroneously referred to as "Hall of Famers", honorees are not inducted into the Hall of Fame. Honorees (if living) give a speech at the Hall of Fame during induction weekend, and their names are added to a plaque in the Hall's library.

not sure about a broadcasters wing or whether winning the award puts you there or Mr. Miller won both honors. there are certainly plenty of articles saying he qwill be inducted into the hall.

There is a broadcasters wing, which IS part of the Hall of Fame.
He is not going to the broadcast wing of the HOF. He won the Frick award, which is not the same as a broadcast HOF induction. There are several broadcaster whom have won the Frick award AND have been inducted into the HOF and several that have only one or the other. They are two different things.

Miller may be inducted into the HOF in the future, or maybe even this year. He has not been inducted yet and what was announced yesterday was the Frick award. And as confirmed by your Wiki link, they are two separate things

I would agree with you King. The only qualifier would be that several other articles indicate he will be inducted. That may be naivete on the part of whoever wrote the article or there may be more to the story.

in any event congrats to Mr. Miller. I am a Red Sox fan.i enjoyed hearing him announce that team back in the day and I certainly remember him doing orioles games and his national work. As far as I am concerned he deserves both honors and if he has not won both hopefully he will someday.

Wow, learn something everyday. They have never distinguished the two separately before so I did not know that. I always thought it was one-in-the-same.

Anyone who has worked with Joe Morgan for so long not only deserves to be in the Hall of Fame, but should really be granted sainthood.

I think it is probably the former. You never know. They may know something that we don't. ;)

Let me add, even as a Dodgers fan and a Giants hater, I too believe Miller will be and should be a HOF. The only thing that may hold him back is the fact that he has announced for too many teams and thus has not established himself as a voice of a particular team or a particular era.
