Hoping not another 722 HD failure...

One of our recordings gave us this error today:

"A problem was encountered when opening the files for this DVR event.

Please note the error code: 04"

I've attached a picture of the message as well. I have unplugged the DVR for a few seconds and plugged it back in and still get the error. We haven't had any other issues or glitches that I have seen in the past with HD failure. So I am hoping this could be a one time event.

Any thoughts are appreciated!

how hot is your receiver? in a entertainment center racked and stacked wth other heat producing equiptement?

havent had that message sp sorry i dont know.

It's on my TV stand on the second shelf that is glass. It is not enclosed, nothing on top of it and there isn't anything turned on most of the time around it. It has a few inches of space above it and the sides are open.

I read a HD temp thread last week so I elevated it with some CD cases under each footing for extra ventilation under it. The HD temp went from 116 to 114 as of yesterday.

You may need to do a check switch.

Click on error code 04

I would suggest that you start with a reset by holding your power witch on the receiver in for 5 second and then let the receiver reboot.

I am transferring every to my external HD right now. I got the fee waived last time, but did me no good as the HD was toast by the time I got an ext HD.

Thanks. I will try that after the transfer is complete.

That error indicates file corruption for the one specific event if you are lucky, or a general bad condition of the whole drive if you're not. Good luck!

That's a good link Bobby posted.

Error 04 (not 004) is:

Symptom
Errors 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07.

Cause
A file error occurred when a DVR recording was interrupted by signal loss or power failure.
I am a little less worried about the HD now.
