119/110/61.5/72.7...Possible?

Im actually in the Philadelphia DMA, looking at the EKB it seems the non HD locals are on 110.

I haven't been following the whole thread, so I don't know what receivers you have. Do you need MPEG2 locals? Or SD copies of your HD locals? Because they're the only SD locals I see that aren't also on 61.5.

I have 2 211k's so I know I am okay with the MPEG 4 sources.
But I do watch PBS and some of the local stations not offered in HD.
OTA is spotty for me so I was using Dish for my locals.

In central PA the original plan was to install a 3rd dish, but I stressed that I REALLY didn't want a third dish. The tech made some calls and was able to talk out the following solution...1000.4 for 61.5 and 72.7 to replace my 61.5 dish, an existing Dish 500 pointing to 110/119, and a DP-44 switch to tie it all together. Works great!

I can't see how this would work if the 1000.4 LNB has a switch built in to them? You can't you LNB's that have switches are built in to them with a DP-44 Switch according to my tech.

Did he use the 3 lnb arm or a different one? The tech i had today did not know how to add 110/119 to the 1000.4, he also thought we would not need it since we have EA plus 110, but now we are missing some SD channels, mainly want to be able to get IFC, we just switched from AT250 to Dish Latino MAX. So long story short they are coming back on Monday to check the signals, but I think the original CSR was right and we need 119. So just want to know what to tell the next tech that comes. Can we just leave up the 1000.4 with the 3 lnb arm and just not connect 77? And then run 110/119 to the DPP44 switch, or would that be run to the 1000.4 first like the 110 currently is?

Thanks for your help.

Sorry for the delay on this...I haven't checked this thread in a while...

He did use the 3 lnb arm. He just connected the 61.5 and 72.7 lnbs to the dpp44 and 110/119 to the dpp44.

It does work. I don't have 3 locals, but another poster from my area said they tried a 3 dish solution to get around that and had the same problem, so it sounds like it's a receiver software problem of some sort. I could care less about those channels though...

My already have this setup with 4 Satellites & my receivers work just fine. But the guy needs to come back because a 61.5/72 Combo on 1 500 Dish & it's not getting good signal, so he said he would need to do a 3rd dish. He told me a 1000.4 Dish would not work for me, because the LNB's have built in Switches.

He said you can't hook a LNB with Built in Switches to a DP-44 Switch.

So how are you guys getting this to work? Please Help!

Thx, Josh

The LNB in on the 1000.4 is disabled when the external switch is used. The LNB on the wing gets input directly into the DPP-44 as do separate outputs for 61/72/77.

So I could use a 1000.4 Dish for 61.5 & 72.7 & attach that to my DPP-44 Switch I already have in place with no problems right? So my set up would be a Dish 500 for 110/119 & a 1000.4 Dish for 61.5 & 72.7 all attached to a DPP-44 Switch.

Would this work the same or better as having what I have now, which is 3 Dish 500's, 1 for 110,119 & 1 for 61.5 & 1 for 72.7?

Thx for all your help.

Yeah, I have had EA with 110 since install and have had a DPP44 the whole time, so what the tech is telling you is just wrong. When we switched packages they did what DK21 said, they left the 1000.4 with 77 line not connected and changed the 300 to a 500 with 110/119, and all connected to the DPP44 switch and it has been working great. 110/119 has much better signal than 77 did.
