MLB Network campaign against DishNet

Did anyone else read this and go back to when they were a kid and you wanted to do something and your mom said no and you said, "but soandso's mom is letting him", and your mom's reply was, "So what if soandso's mom let him do it? Are you kidding me? Dish Network has Fox Sports North in HD. There was an HD feed of the game. Direct TV and Comcast had this game in HD on their Fox Sports North HD channels. Why did dish not show it?

If Dish did not have a FSN North channel, or Direct TV and Comcast did not have the HD version then I would have nothing to say.

But you know what? I pay for FSN North in HD, the game was broadcast in HD on the other carriers, why should I not question this?

Say ESPN has a sporting event you really want to watch in HD, Direct TV and Comcast has it. Dish Network just decides they aren't going to show it in HD. How would that go over?

The Braves played the White Sox at Turner Field last night on SportSouth in HD, but it was only SD on Dish, and it looks to be the same thing todayon FSN South.

Our RSN I belive will be showing all Tiger games in HD, if there are some that are not, not going to go crazy

NESN has been 100% HD for at least the last 2 seasons. There have been games here and there not in HD over that time and the usual excuse from a CSR is that NESN is not providing them the HD feed.

Add me to this list. Between the rain fade and haphazard HD RSN support I am planning on switching to Comcast or AT&T when my contract is up next February (and both have ESPNU HD!)

I'm a big Dodger fan, but I'm not going to have a aneurysm because I don't get to see every game, or every game in HD.
Dish isn't a big sports company, movies yes, but not sports. They never have been and it hasn't ever been a secret. If someone signs up for Dish and wants sports then it's their own fault, no one elses.

Actually, I hope and wish Dish would get MLBNet and EI. More providers that carry it, the better off all of us EI subs will be.

Caving in? I disagree, but that is a different issue.

I am specifically talking about subs to the sports packs. For example, ST would be less expensive to sub to if more providers carried ST. So, ST subs would pay less for ST.

I think we can come to the conclusion that you will have to look at other providers if you want EI or MLB network. I sometimes miss the option of MLB EI, and some of the shows on MLB Network but there are other positives with Dish right now that out weight EI/MLB network for me.

Plus once the baseball season does come I am reminded of the baseball that is
available to me with ESPN/ESPN2/TBS/WGN/Local RSN

Though I am thinking of the MLBTV version of EI over playon/PS3 for 99.00

To all of you that keep saying that baseball is available on the ESPN's and other national sports channels, keep in mind that if you are a fan of a certain team, you want to watch THAT team. The Cardinals play on national Television 18 times this year so far scheduled. Thats more than most teams. There are 162 games a year. I want to see more than 18 Cardinal games! (I currently live in Laredo, TX and the are not local.

That being said, for the money you pay for MLB EI, you can purchase a Roku box and a year subscription to MLB.TV. So, if you have high speed broadband available to you, that is the way to go I believe. However, now roku is saying the games won't be available until mid-April so my money may have been wasted.

I get all of Dodger games I can get by "moving" to get their flag station out of LA. All in HD! I use direct only for baseball and nothing else. I suspend it when the season is over and use it for nothing else. I dumped EI this season because I didn't watch it as much as I did last year. Saving a bundle now. I get enough other games from the RSNs, HD or not.

Simply put charlie is cheap, just like charlie is too cheap to pickup sprout or any other programming that is worth any value. Instead charlie picks up channels like shorts, WFN, logohd, or RFDHD that doesnt have any viewership, he gets them for pennies on the dollar, and it inflates his channel count with out really adding any dam programming that nobody really wants or gives two cents about. If I was in charge WFN, Logo, Centric, and MAVTV would be the first four to go, They would be replaced with ESPNU, AMCHD, IFCHD and MLB Network HD, allong with a deal for Extra Innnings.

From here on out I would add MAJOR cable networks that arent on the system, once we have a 100 percent coverage of the major networks, then I would add on niche networks. The only way I would add a niche network right away is if it was something like monsters HD that would gain an immedate audence.

I can watch in HD on Direct. Of course they are playing on my local RSN anyway, FS West. The game is in HD on EI, as they are using the Angels feed and both HD fees are listed in the guide (I just cannot watch the Twins feed since I am in LA and blackout rules forbid them from showing their feed here).

Really unhappy with the lack of Twins HD content the first week of the season on Dish. Currently, the guide shows the HD feed missing for Tuesday, Thursday (also, no SD!), Friday, Sunday and Monday.* Terrible start to the season. I've been with Dish since 2003, but am seriously considering abandoning ship. A brief survey of Cardinals and White Sox games doesn't paint a much prettier picture.

Does this situation typically improve once the NBA regular season ends (and MLB doesn't have to compete for RSN bandwidth with basketball)? I remember being upset about the lack of Twins HD early on last year and wrote an e-mail to customer service (no response). But I seem to recall the problem only being an infrequent inconvenience by mid-summer. Anybody remember a similar scenario from last year, or are my memories just faulty? Thanks in advance.



*Sunday's game is available on WGN (Sox broadcast); Monday's is on ESPN, but will surely be blacked out there in the Minnesota market.

IIRC, the situation improved dramatically last year once the NBA and NHL regular seasons ended last year.....
