We had a major new equipment install on May 21st, to include, a new single wire slimline dish, SWM, MRV/DECA, a new H24 and a new HR-24-500. We also already had an HR21-200 and an HR20-700.

We are keeping a log to record and keep track of what is happening. Here is what we believe to be valid at this point:

Anything recorded on the new HR24-500 and viewed in any other room will freeze, often every minute, sometime the screen will go blank (dark) and at some point a message will appear: “Playback failed no audio packets/video data packets received from server”.

Programs recorded on the older HR21 and HR20 and watched on the older HR21 and HR20 are fine in either direction.

Programs viewed on the H24 receiver from any of the other DVR’s (old or new)will video blackout every minute or so and periodically freeze often every minute.

Programs recorded on the HR24 and watched on that HR24 are just fine.

We waited a week after the install since there is a bunch of new Directv technology involved in hopes that DTV would sort it out and now have scheduled another installer visit for June 2nd.

Thoughts?

We have almost identical setups. On the HR24 and H24 is there anything plugged into the internet ports? There should not be. The HR21 and HR20 will have the DECA adapter at the back with an ethernet cable connected to and to the receiver. You should also have an internet DECA adapter that will be attached via coax to the SWiM splitter, then attached via ethernet to your router.

Does that sound like yours? If there is an ethernet cable in the HR24/H24 it is connected incorrectly. They have built in DECA and do not require ethernet. If they connect your router to the HR24/H24 via ethernet it will cause the symptoms you describe.

Also make sure your SWiM splitter has a green label.

Ok then, your screwed then! Just kidding.

Have you rebooted every box? Go to Menu, Setup, Reset, restart receiver. (NOT reset everything).

I had to reset my h24 today because it was only seeing one receiver. A reset fixed everything.

We have even unplugged every box for half an hour in addition to multiple red button resets.

It's strange that it's only your H24 and HR24 that is giving you issues. I had a hard time getting MRV on my HR24 with DECA but finally resolved it with redoing satellite setup and a reboot. My problem was different, MRV on that box wouldn't work at all.

I was told that there were some 24 series boxes that had problems with the built in DECA modules. Maybe you are lucky and got two of those.

Can you explain how they wired your system from dish to each receiver? Including DECA and internet modules?

Go into Menu, Parental Favorite & Setup, System Setup and choose Info & Test. Software should be 0x3ba. If it is not at that level you can force an update by rebooting the receiver and pressing 02468 on the remote as soon as you have the initial screen back on your TV.

Nope! didn't work. Still getting video blackouts. Every 10 to 20 seconds. amazingly annoying. Really ready to get rid of this company.

Did they run all new cable when they did your install?

Is the HR24 and H24 coming off the same splitter as the other two receivers?

id they run all new cable when they did your install? No. Why? It has worked fine for years.

Is the HR24 and H24 coming off the same splitter as the other two receivers? Off the same SWM"multiswitch", not off the same splitter.
