weird they moved some locals from 8PSK to QPSK...guess too many complaints ;)

Hmm... but the modulation is till 8PSK. They just changed the flag so regular receivers could see them. Do they want people to see the locals on regular QPSK only receivers and get the no signal message and call in for an upgrade?

i been gone all day and still no local nbs .i,m going to show my ass big time about this and no locals hd.

why?
Right now Dish is still outlawed for supplying distants.
Stations that are not Sig viewed they cannot turn on yet until they get the OK.

So until the ban on Dish carrying distants is lifted, they cant turn them on

The injunction was lifted yesterday at around noon...
‘(2) LIMITED TEMPORARY WAIVER-
‘(A) IN GENERAL- Upon a request made by a satellite carrier, a court that issued an injunction against such carrier under subsection (a)(7)(B) before the date of the enactment of this subsection shall waive such injunction with respect to the statutory license provided under subsection (a)(2) to the extent necessary to allow such carrier to make secondary transmissions of primary transmissions made by a network station to unserved households located in short markets in which such carrier was not providing local service pursuant to the license under section 122 as of December 31, 2009.

are you sure?
Scott mentions yesterday that DISH has applied to the courts to offer distants.

Distants are different from adding to short markets, see the quote which I added to my post above while you were responding to it.

Actual Distants such as for RVers, requires the permanent lifting of the injunction.

But again, no one other than RVers qualifies for them due to the federal rule that you cannot get them from a company that offers your locals...

Those are markets where the "fill in" stations are significantly viewed which Dish can do right now.

The issue is some markets Dish is taking locals that aren't classified as SV and plugging them into markets. These stations I assume are classified as "distants" which Dish still cant legally do

edit: something doesnt make sense. I checked a few "fill in's" that are not active (from peoples posts) like the whole CBS in Dothan,AL & NBC in Panama City (both these markets get the other station) and the 2 in Jackson, TN where they get Memphis and according to the FCC list ALL of these examples are SV on the list and not a distant

But then there are ones that dont work such as Glendive, MT. The only SV is the NBC in NoDak and Dish is giving them Fox & ABC from Rapid City (Glendive has CBS & NBC) which would be considered a "distant" in that case yet their active....

so something is funky

Iceberg,

Raising my hand..................that would be me in Panama City. :):):)

OK I might have figured out yours joecap

Dothan has 5 counties in its DMA and only 2 have the PC NBC as SV
Houston & Geneva

The other 3 (Coffee, Dale, Henry) NBC PC is NOT SV and would be considered a "distant" which Dish cannot legally sell right now...assuming parts of the PC DMA is the same way

Thats the only explanation I can come up with (right now) ;) as to why you are not getting NBC yet...because its not considered a SV local in the whole DMA
