Hey guys, I want you to try something.
My HR20 would not turn on this morning either, didn't try it till I saw you guys talking about it, (bedroom) ... I rebooted mine and it came on like expected.
I thought, OK, NP.
Then I turned it off and walked away .... went back in the bedroom and tried again and it won't power up again.

Can you guys see if thats your problem as well ?

I will do a reboot again, IF I can get it to turn back on.

The software on it was last Fridays CE , nothing since then.

Success!!

Only 4 reboots, 1 software update, and 1 hour phone call (45 min of it on hold) and back in business.
All that for a 3D update that I have 100% no intrest in.

Wow what did I get myself into.

Thanks Guys for you help.:up

Well, I did a reboot and it appears to be working normally again .....
However, interestingly I find that when the unit turns ON and or Off the Blue ring that normally rolls to turn on or off, now Pulsates and then goes on or off.

Wonder if this unit is finally going bad ...

I would think that this issue with the recvrs having issues this morning should really be in it's own thread so others can catch it when they come to the site.

Both of my HR21's locked up this morning as well. After the 2nd unplug/reboot, they are finally working again. The 1st reboot, neither the remote or front panel were responsive, so I did it again, and all is fine now.

I mentioned earlier that I had check on 2 of HR2x this morning and they were ok. Well just now my daughter who is out of school for the summer called me and said that all 3 HR2x boxes were dead. I had her unplug all 3 and they came back up. But after a minute they froze up again. So I had her RBR. They now seem to be ok.

I did see it mention at the other site that the problem could be guide data related and you need to do two resets within 30 minutes to fully flush the guide.

That sounds like what I had to do as well.:)

Agree, and change the Title, since it was a software issue , and not really the equipment . Or was it?;)

Two unplug boots seems to clear cache of bad data.
My HR24 was not effected but HR20 did the double unplug boot and fixed it.

I'm waiting for my sister to call soon on this.

She has HR21

Looks like software, seeing it is happening on most all recvrs. (except the HR24's)

Funny thing is, the software version has not changed from what I d/l ed last Friday, if they sent software, would'nt that have changed as well ?

Or maybe they sent it to us and didn't impliment it till this morning.

Yup...on my second unplug reboot now of all my DVRs...question is...what the heck do the other 99.9% of the D* customer base that do not get on these forums do. Imagine the phone lines into D* CSRs today! I am just waiting for the call from mom.

I think that this is why some think it may be guide data related instead software download. We've had guide data problems cause these kind of system wide issues before.

HR20 700 had to unplug and reset twice and is ok. HR20 100 did the same but will not respond to remote or panel for channel change or power off. Will reboot for the third time I guess.

Yep, they should make sure this stuff doesn't happen. And Scott and DBS talk should let D* that most of the members had issues and fixed it themselves.
That way D* doesn't think it was a complete success without a hitch.

If 3rd don't work, try calling D* and they will resend the update, Then one more reboot should do it. Make sure you have 1 hour of your time to spare.

Ditto, I was wondering if mine just died...Unplugged and everything was fine..Phone has been ringing off the hook all morning with mad customers....Everyone I have had re-boot came back up with no problem...
