Reading the thread on dbstalk is hilarious. Everyone is coming out of the woodwork to say:

- Its not a software problem. Of course, all software should choke on some data and render the box inert
- Its a data problem, but tribune makes the data so its not directv's fault
- Anyone who was inconvenienced by any of this is a moron who didnt intuit that they should read directv's twitter page before performing basic troubleshooting, and anyone who is unhappy about this is a troll

Really great stuff.

In the meanwhile, still nothing on directv's web site or in the support section about it. I guess they do have an automated message on now if you call that tells you they know about it and to try rebooting until it works.

By the way , Thanks for the Great support you provided on the matter.

Yes Hemi I am sorry I am not here at your beckon call.

I will always try to help unfornatly I have not been around to help you out. I would like to remind everyone I deal with billing not TECH.

Though I do not defend this screw up only thing I will pick on his Hemi over all bad attitude towards everything good or bad.

Until I know of an fix I will tell you .

I didnt have much luck with multiple plug/unplugs either. I just got a momentary blip of the blue power light and could hear that the fan was on but no other lights and no tv output.

I left them both unplugged for a while and when I plugged them in, as soon as the blue light came on I forced a software update. When that came up as soon as I had a tv channel come on I clicked menu/setup/reset receiver.

That way I got a known good software download, all the guide data was flushed so I'd get new guide data, and that seemed to do it for me. Everything has been good for almost 2 hours now.

How do you force a software update? Would you be willing to give me some steps to follow?

Directv has a automated response that says to unplug for 15 seconds, plun in until lights on front of receiver light up then unplug again and wait 15 seconds and replug. that solved my problems.

DIRECTV is now trying to do a fix and your receiver might reboot a few times on its own.

I hope nobody is recording anything. :)

My HR20-100 just went off, no response for a minute, now is rebooting. Anyone else had this happen in the last couple minutes? Slow typer!!

Whomever gets rebooted first can you please check your software version and post it along with your model? Thanks
