canceled service on Monday

Why is there always someone who expects "something for nothing". I think anyone who does this is just a crook. It is not any different than robbing a bank. You are trying to steal.

How is trying to bargain with Dish the same as robbing a bank or stealing?

I was a sub to E* like 3 years ago. When I moved to my new house. I called and they offered to sign up by purchasing my own equipment and paying $20 per new card.

Guess what I went with D* as a new customer....and I have had service with them in the past.

You all can defend E* all you want, it does not matter to me. D* gets my money and E* gets nothing. Since everyone can only be a new customer once....do they not believe they will run out of customers as they raise the rates on there existing customers while offering "new" customers amazing deals?

While there an tons of customers in rural areas unable to get cable/fiber/etc. It is figured every "new" customer has about 2 years. As these 2 years add up, that consumer will likely have more service available to them...IE (Possible new Satellite providers, New Fiber customers?)

*Example
My parents currently have E* and there local Telco have just completed Fiber. (First in community) and the telco is currently there ISP. They have went from a 1Mb internet to 10mb with no change in price. Currently they offer 120 channels with 40 in HD. There current mailer is expecting 200 channels by 2011. Fiber is the death to Satellite. It will continue to grow rapidly.

I wasnt try to steal service just trying to get the best deal for now. The lady I work with left and had service the next day under her boyfriends name. I dont think that is honest either. I left and got the kit after CSR messed up the address leaving off the unit #. If dish is going to charge $15 to get their equipment. They should let you just drop it off at a local dealers office or have an option to pay for a local installer to remove the equipment. When they do the install it is from a local installer. Now I will have Comcast triple play on Monday the 28th install. At least if I ever cancel I can take it to their local office without getting a mix up because CSR dont understand English.

You only have to be away from E* for a few months or so to be eligible for promotions as I recall. You must not have left in good standing if required to purchase. Or at least their system didn't have you in good standing for some reason -- maybe even in error.

ANother one in a long line of people who think there is someone who will give them something for nothing. Ahh, entitlement is bliss..
BTW OP, please learn to punctuate sentences and separate ideas into paragrahs.

bye bye

Why should a local dealer be stuck with something he had nothing to do with in the 1st place. 1 reason it has to go back to E* another is that they will probably chk it see if it works and then if there are any problems charge you.

That is a good point. Directv hasn't increased their rates since 1998. What does it cost, $80 to get all their programming? *rolls eyes*

You think Directv doesn't raise rates on their long time customers? Services have also increased greatly in the past few years. DVRs can record 350 hours of programming!!! I remember when a Receiver was just that... a receiver. No local weather, no sports, nothing but a Program Guide and Menu. And people seem to get angry when these new things cost money.

Really? And I bet they'll charge just half of what Dish charges. Fiber could be the death of Sat TV, but it probably won't be. Cable existed in plenty of places and people still got Sat. Sat has one advantage over Fiber... it doesn't need to be installed except for a dish and a little coax and upgrades are much more localized.

Honestly, my experience, both Directv and Dish Network are great. Which one benefits a household best will depend on desired programming and how much equipment they need. I'm glad you enjoy Directv. They are good too... though they don't have Fox Soccer Plus HD. Maybe I should throw a tantrum about that. ;)
