Remote Access to my DVR722k has been a hit and miss proposition for months, but generally after logging in and out eventually I can access the DVR. Today I cannot access the DVR no matter how many times I log in and out. Yes, I have gone through the drill of:

1. Press Menu on the remote
2. Select System Setup (6), Installation (1) then Broadband Setup (9)
3. Select Network Setup (1), then Reset Connection

My receiver shows I AM connected to the network but I am unable to access my DVR. What the heck is the problem and will it ever be fixed? Dish advertises this as a "feature" for marketing purposes, but a feature which is not reliable is a frustration.

End of rant.

It has always worked reliably for me, but it always has the same IP address in my house. I told the router to always give it the same address.

My 722k does this also. I also noticed that 50% of the time the light on the switch isn't even on like its not plugged in. I've tried different cables, different ports and it still does it. one day it will be on all day, the next maybe just an hour and then the lights are off on the switch. And when it is on i'll connect to it on my IPhone, and it takes like 5 minutes for it to quit saying that i need to connect my receiver to the network. it will just pop up eventually and work.

ditto for my 622 and 922

Power line filter? UPS? Maybe it thinks there is a home plug network and trying to route through there instead of the ethernet.

I have never had any problem with remote access to my 622s or my 922. Perhaps it is my setup:

1. All are on UPSs. This prevents home plug from working. None of them can see any homeplug devices because of the power filtering.

2. All have static IP addresses on my internal network. I have the router give them the same IP address every time.

3. I have cable modem, but I had DSL until 2 months ago, worked with both systems with dynamic IP addresses from the provider. My internet connection is also on a UPS, so my IP address tends to stay the same a long time since I never power off the modem.

4. I have a dedicated switch. I do not know if that makes a difference, it is a 24 port gigabit switch.

I don't have any homeplug devices in my house except for the 722. Its on a surge protector also. When it works and connects to the internet I can access it fine, so Its not an IP issue. its just like the receiver turns off the network port to save power or something. All day yesterday it was off. i could unplug it and plug it into a new port and not come on, and today I noticed that it is on and everything works. I have a 8 port switch on my entertainment center to feed my xbox360, 722k, my blu-ray player, and it all runs back to my router. everything else works all the time.

As of today I can no longer use DRA. Worked fine for ~3 weeks since I first signed up with Dish. The CSR suggested it may be a website problem. (?)

(Yes I went thru all the drills of diagnostics, reset connection, unplugged the Homeplug Ethernet, reset the modem and router, etc.).

Over the weekend I lost access to Platinum channels via Remote Access. I had made no changes to my programming subscription which includes Platinum. The channels remained accessible via the receiver and were displayed in the receiver program guide. Contacted Dish support and the issue was fixed rather quickly. After regaining access to the channels via Remote Access I noticed timers I had previously set for Platinum channels had been deleted.

It absolutely could be your switch. I had an older Linksys EZXS55W EtherFast 10/100 5-Port Workgroup Switch that absolutely would not work with my VIP722k no matter what I did. It worked with every other component I ran through it, but the Dish equipment didn't like it. Wouldn't even show activity on the LAN port at all. Without the switch, no problem. With the switch, no LAN activity at all. Period. I talked to the guys who installed my Dish setup and they said they'd heard that some of the switches didn't work with the Dish receivers, but didn't know which brands/models worked and which ones didn't. On a whim, I swapped it out for a 5-Port Netgear Gigabit switch and the problem completely disappeared. The Dish receivers are extremely finicky about the switches you can use with them.

I'm having the same problem. Remote access is hit and miss (more miss than hit). My receivers always say "connected online". Would that not be enough to rule out a local problem, i.e switches, dynamic IP's, etc.?

I have just upgraded my 622's to a pair of 722's and was experiencing the very same thing. In my case, I am attempting to remove my old receivers from my SlingGuide account, so that I can add the new receivers. No matter which browser I use, I am sent back to the SlingGuide account login page. Add to this, when I attempt to add/activate one of the new receivers, the web site tells me that the receiver in question is not connected and I am instructed to check/reset the broadband connection on the device.

I have confirmed connectivity, and can access web based "movies on demand" etc. so everything is connected.

Is it possible (since so many people are having issues), that Dish is working on the SlingGuide remote access site?

Regards,
Spence

I have always had intermittent problems with the Dish Remote Access feature, whether it's the iPhone app or through the Dish website. It doesn't matter if I'm on my local network or truly accessing it remotely. I'm using it through HomePlug.

I have noticed it usually takes a couple of tries tapping/clicking on "my DVR" in order to get things to work. Usually, I have to toggle between "What's on Now" and "My DVR." Often, I still get the error message that my device is not connected to the Internet, but when I click on "What's on Now" I see recordings that are... you guessed it... on my DVR. After a minute or so things usually catch up.

This leads me to believe that...at least in my isolated case... it is a backend (@Dish Network) problem, rather than a true receiver connectivity problem.

TRY ACCESSING [ DISH.SLING.COM/ ]. DISH IS OWNED BY SLING. THEY RECENTLY WENT THRU PASSWORD AND USER ID CHANGES. IF YOU HAD AN OLD E-MAIL ADDRESS AND USER ID IT MAY NOT HAVE BEEN CORRECTLY TRANSFERRED. GO ON THE SITE "And try putting in a e-mail and forgot password, if the page accepts you will get a new link to change the password. if so try logging back into the same web page". YOU MAY BE ONE OF THE NUMEROUS PEOPLE THAT DIDN,T GET TRANSFERRED CORRECTLY. AFTER TRANSFERRING YOUR NEW E-MAIL ADDRESS, LOG IN AGAIN AND TRY CHANGING YOUR PASSWORD, BOTH TO MATCH YOUR DISH NETWORK ACCOUNT! GOOD LUCK! SUPERDAVE

I have never been able to log-in via DISH.SLING.COM. I tried your suggestion and it still would not accept my e-mail account. I use Dishnetwork.com to get to the Dish Remote Access (DRA) log-in screen. "My DVR" quit working 2 days ago. DRA, including "My DVR", has worked before. I have been using Dish for about 3 weeks.

I presently can schedule recordings thru the grid, but now My DVR says the receiver is offline and I can no longer view scheduled recordings or recorded events/timers/etc., no matter what I do. But thanks anyway.

One of my two DVR's is always connected and the other one is hit and miss, more miss. I am one of those guys that has always had the screwed up local channels, as well as missing AAD HD channels. Right now my one DVR that is connected shows absolutely nothing in the grid on remote access. If I put in a search term then some shows will show up. It has never done this before. hopefully they are working on it.

Mitch

Out of the blue My DVR is working again. Was going thru the guide (on TV) then all of the sudden it was if the power went off and the receiver reset/rebooted. I tried My DVR about 10 mins later and now works! Coincidence? I wonder how long it will keep working.

I previously tried unplugging the receiver to no avail.
