Hello and welcome to another SatelliteGuys LIVE recap of the DISH Network Retailer Chat.

As normal we only report items which may be of interest to you the consumer but do not share information such as dealer costs and other dealer sensitive information.

We hope you enjoy our coverage which is done in next to realtime, please excuse any spelling of typing mistakes. :)

We will unlock this thread after the first update from the retailer chat is posted.

And here we go with the July 2010 Retailer Chat.

No Jim Defranco today but we have Amir and Brian Neylon. In the background they have one of these mesh DISH HD dishes. (I REALY want one of those Dishes!!!!!)

Today we will talk programming, marketing, retail service and tech news.

They start by talking about the launch of Echostar 15. The launch video is shown...

And we go into programming...

They talk about Fine Living Network rebranding itself as Cooking Channel and the addition of Cooking Channel HD.

A promo for Cooking Channel is shown...

And thats it for programming... :(

We go to marketing...

Nothing interesting here (to the consumer) to share... dealers are geting new sales kits. Looks like another big push of the NFL Red Zone channel.

Marketing is done now and now they are talking about the new DISH Network retailer portal. The old DISH Network retailer website will soon be shut down.

Still talking about the new Retailer Portal

On to Tech News with Kelly...

She stands next to one of those mesh dishes. (Have I said I really want one of those dishes?)

She tells us about how important it is to connect to broadband.

The Sling Adapter for the 622, 722 and 722k will be coming out this fall and will turn your receiver into a Slingbox by just plugging in one USB cable. It will use the TV2 tuner to give sling functionality.

Talking about the 922 update and how it allows playback from a EHD on the 922, they also talk about the Slingplayer Mobile App for the Andriod. Users can buy the app for $29 or if they want to hold off there will be a free version available from DISH Network later this fall. (huh!)

And thats it for Kelly...

Mesh dishes tend to be lighter, and not affected by higher winds as much as the solid one (ie. doesn't become a parasail in a hurricane).

So if you are watching tv somewhere using that new slingbox device you can't record two shows at once? Is it like that for the current slingbox or no?

You can still record 2 things at once, you just can't watch a 3rd show live at the same time (unless 1 of the 3 is OTA).

A 622 or 722 would work the same as if it was in Dual mode, it's just that the TV2 output goes to the sling instead of the Modulator.
