Hells waiting room (El Paso,TX)
D* called and told me that for only $3 more a month, I would get the premiere package and sunday ticket. I have total choice + which is $61.49 per month with 185 channels. It's an older package but I like the channels in it. I was told that if I accept my new package it would go into affect within 72 hours. This package price is good for 5 months. And at the end of the 5 months I would have to call to downgrade my services if I wanted to change it. I said yes to the Premier/ST package, it's only $3 more a month, I hope. I didn't care if it means that I have to start a new 2 yr. agreement cause I will be upgrading to hd soon. I also think at the end of the 5 months I will have to choose one the newer packages when I down grade.

Has anybody else received this offer? And have you accepted or denied the offer?

I'll post any truths or lies that I get from D*.

I can tell you about this offer basically it the NFLST get free premier offer. It is offered ever year to random customers who still have Total choice and Total choice plus. See after the end of the promo you have to pick from choice /choice extra /choice ultimate.

I thought that but I was not sure. I will probably choose choise extra, and drop the premium channels. I am not to much of an HBO, STARS, SHOWTIME person. However, I am a football fan. Getting ST for $3 a month is what I said yes to.

I'm out of contract right now. In a week or two I may call in and try and see if I can get this as well.

Aridon if you call in you wont get it. This is a strictly a out bound telemarkint offer. it a we call you not a you call us deal. Even I dont have access to that promotion I just know we have it as we always target people with out who never had nflst and people who have grandfathered packages and we want to move them to something current.

Tell them to call ME !

I haven't had that promo since the day I signed up 6 years ago !

So far all is good. HBO, STARZ, SHOWTIME and CINAMAX are on. Also channel 112 (order NFL SUNDAY TICKET) states I am authorized for this program. Now I just have to wait to for my bill. I usually get it between the 28-31 of each month so I don't know if it will be on this months bill.

I also remember D* called a few months back offering me MLB-EI. I declined it 'cause I'm not a baseball fan. I did tell the opperator I was a football fan and was interested in ST. That may be another reason I was given the offer.

So basically they're calling people with grandfathered packages with better channel/price structures than the existing packages and suckering you into a 5 month deal where you get premier and sunday ticket at a great price, then lose your grandfathered status and package.

So read up on the difference closely before you make this decision so as to make sure its a good one for you over the long term.

And for what its worth, according to the 'hot deals' type of web sites, thousands of people who are existing customers can call in and get this deal. Seems to be as arbitrary as any other credit/deal situation, which in my opinion just annoys customers.

Yeah we changed the number on that deal.

You simply cant "call in this offer"

What happened was sites like slickdeals got the telephone number ot the outbound telemarking departing offerign the deal and people were getting the deal. And some people got into trouble. Now you just get a recording saying thre no one available.

But CFB I think I cover the offer quite well and the reasons for why its here.

Calling the outbound telemarketing department is how I got the baseball extra innings , Showtime (3 months), Starz (3 months) for free. Better than free. Bill was reduced!

I was hoping I could call the same number next year and get the same deal. Guess that will not work.

A year or two ago, I did just call the main # and ask for this new customer deal and got it.

Yes, you did. Except for the warning to folks that they might want to make sure they dont lose anything or end up paying more for the same thing by allowing their package to be changed. I think I covered that, though. ;)

I stated the whole purpose of this was to move him out of a grandfather package and keep him from moving back If you did not understand that I am sorry.

I understood that. What I think was left out was a suggestion to make sure the new package wasnt significantly worse than the old package. Whats wrong with bringing that up? :)

When is the first Sunday for Sunday Ticket? I signed up for the five months deal and the premium channels started right away...about a month ago. If the Sunday Ticket doesn't start until Sept 12th, It looks like I am only getting a little over 3 months of the Sunday Ticket. If I am right, I feel that Direct was a little deceiving in their presentation. What am I missing???

What was deceiving? It says you pay $59.99 for Sunday Ticket over 5 months and you get the Premier package for free over 5 months. What is deceiving about that? It says nothing about football being played for 5 months.

Would you rather pay $99.98 for Sunday Ticket over 3 months and get the Premier package for free over 3 months?

Either way you are still going to pay $299.95 for Sunday Ticket.

Also it was your choice to sign up prior to the start of the season. Why didn't you wait until the season started to sign up if you felt that was your better offer? The offer is valid until October 6th. You didn't have to sign up in July.

Obviously you don't understand the package I was offered...you may want to read this entire thread. I am paying $3 a month to have, I thought, five months of Sunday Ticket and five months of premium. In exchange I lose my grandfathered programing and will have to chose a new programing package at the end of the five month period.

This offer was NOT good until Oct 6th as you stated.

I am still puzzled over when the five months of NFL Ticket starts.

Anyone else have a clue???

Who ever said anything about 5 months of NFL? If you don't know the NFL season is 17 weeks long and what months they play those 17 weeks in then why did you switch packages? I know exactly what you were offered, basically same deal as the new customers were offered. Pay for Sunday Ticket over 5 months for $59.99 (or something very close to this amount) and get 5 free months of Premier. You aren't getting cheated out of anything, you will get the entire 17 week NFL season for ~$299.95 and 5 months of Premier for free, just like all the new customers that signed up for the same type of deal.

I will go very slow...I am only paying three dollars more a month for the Sunday Ticket and the premium channels.

This was not the same package that new customers were offered. I am NOT paying $59.99 a month for the Sunday Ticket!!!!
