OFFICIAL DISH / FOX ORDEAL DISCUSSION THREAD

However, Dish set up separate channels from 9660-9682. I believe that EPSN Classic is channel 9678 for those who do not sub to the Multi-Sport package.

Thanks for the info, but my guide (ALL CHANNELS) only shows "BEST" (Channel 9649) and then "Whats on Dish 500" (Channel 9900). Nothing in between. I am in a non-FSN area, so I guess those channels aren't available here (Northern CA).

I can see that the FX and NatGeo listings are not for those channels, even though FX and NatGeo are still listed as the channel names.

For those of you thinking about U-verse:

Possibly you're 'blacked out' due to not being in a required area?
I'm not into sports, so I wouldn't know. Don't hold your breath on those free additions though.

cool, I gotcha.

I was just wondering how many of the above sports channels I would be able to view.
Would be funny if 80% of the channels were 'blacked out'

:thud:

Had 1 or 2 games blocked out this morning. I do not get why the HD feeds are not provided. HD FOR LIFE you know....LOL. Anyway, at least they put the HDNet Movies HD feed and the HD Theater HD feed for those who do not have HD Platinum and had FX HD and NatGeo HD. Not like when Palladia SD replaced Fuse.....I am still upset that they did not put in another music channel for that one since there are many others that could have been launched on E* rather than saying they launched Palladia just when they dropped Fuse.....

So again, for everyone else....

channel 136 (FX) is now HDNet Movies [even if it still shows FX on the EPG]
channel 186 (NatGeo) is now HD Theater [even if it still shows NatGeo in the EPG]
channels 9660 and 9682 have the following (although I cannot remember which channel numbers go with each channel):

NBA TV
New England Sports Network
NFL Network
NHL Network
Altitude Sports
Big Ten Network
Comcast SportsNet California
Comcast SportsNet Chicago
Comcast SportsNet Bay Area
Comcast Sports Network Mid-Atlantic
Comcast Sports New England
ESPN Classic (although that one was removed a while back...)
FOX Sports Northwest
FOX Sports Pittsburgh
FOX Sports Rocky Mountain
Mid-Atlantic Sports Network
Mid-Atlantic Sports Network 2
SportsNet New York
SportsTime Ohio

Charlie said 20....so, maybe I am missing one unless he counted wrong....:)

I think that the press release said only if you lost an RSN if I remember correctly. However, I did not think that E* was taking it that seriously.

Programming negotiations (or disputes) are nothing new. What is probably new is the way both parties publicize them and try to draw subscribers themselves into the negotiations.

Before we equate what happened with Dish/Fox to every other dispute that ever existed, lets see how long this one lasts and how many of the others result in the pulling of multiple channels for an extended period of time.

I'm going now. I need to get over this ranting phase. I can't keep it up! :(
I either deal with it and wait several months for the conflict to get resolved or I switch providers. No need to rant my time away :p

ps, happy thinking that they will return soon because of the guide mistake? Not removing them from the guide is a good thing! They will soon return . ha

I didn't loose an RSN today and am not getting those channels... perhaps they DID only give 'em to people loosing a fox RSN...

and looking over that UVerse listing... can you imagine the firestorm if E* lost ETWN :D

Ouch. Uverse seems to be hurting.

My wife asked me about Hallmark when it went off. I'd never watched it and she had never completed a program. As was mentioned providers are in program negotiations almost constantly. Think as your provider as the guy in your corner. A good negotiater is like a good cut man. Some (maybe dish) are stepping on their whanger to often to help you very much.:D signage A happyhappy uverse customer with Sony Movie channel, FX and all ESPNs.

Guess you could say the same for me. Wouldn't even notice that FX was removed except for seeing this thread.

ESPN lost all value to me when ESPN Classic became a higher-tiered channel.

Sony Movie Channel will be here on DISH.

But yeah, enjoy U-verse, me personally I hated every moment that I had it. Especially the piss-poor HD PQ.

As for those happy with D*, I wouldn't want to be without G4 HD, AMC HD, DIY HD, BBCA HD, Nat Geo Wild HD, and History International HD.

Wait until Fox has it's turn with you.
Will never happen like this. They will settle something before a threat is even made.

I will bet you a full one year paid subscription to this site that not a single Fox channel will be pulled from Direct.

These channels are even more important to both Fox and Direct than they are to Dish. Fox will never allow the biggest provider in businesses, restaurants, and bars, and the biggest provider for sports to not carry their sports programming and Direct will not allow Fox to cut them off for the same reason

Don't worry , Charlie Has had a bad history with Fox and Disney, Directv doesn't , so I'm not worried. I see Dish taking a huge hit in my DMA.

I am not worried at all. I am so confident that nothing like this will even come close to happening, that I will make Kab a true bet.

Kab,

Do you want to make this bet? I am serious. If you win, I will pay one full year subscription to this site for you and if I win, you do the same for me. Agreed?
