DVR and Signal help

Ok, so first off Im new to this fourm and to the whole sat stuff so bare with me. I had HD Dvr installed and another hd reciver with the home dvr service, I had one line coming from the dish into my house and then a cheap 1-2 spliter, I was using Swm. Now I have moved into a house that already has directtv but they are using b-band, I have the b-bands, and they are setup for hd, so I ran my coax from slimline3 then split it with the same spliter I had at the old place and conected it to my hd dvr, and I got my service working, but I can only record the show im watching, and I cant the signal to my other box. Can someone help!

First off, to Satelliteguys! To use only one cable, you have to have a swm setup, which you don't. You need two cables to each dvr in order to use both tuners. The splitter only works with a swm setup. You do need the bbcs, though. Is there another port on the lnb that you can connect to? If not, you may need to get a multiswitch, or convert the new setup to swm.

Sounds like the dish that is on the new house is a Legacy dish.
It looks the same to the untrained eye but it is very different.
You need a SWM dish.
Call Direct TV and set up a movers.
They allow you one free move a year.

I already have a multiswitch, the problem is the dish is 75ft away and it happens to be winter in Iowa. It is a Slimeline. I would like not to pay direct tv 50 dollars to come out and fix it. It takes them 3 to 4 weeks

A Slimline can have a standard lnb or a swm type. You have the standard type there and need to run another cable to use your dvr properly. You could get a swm lnb and only need one cable from the dish, but you will need a power inserter and splitter designed for your setup, not necessarily the one you already have.

Seriously, it should not take 3-4 weeks and they will move you free once a year if you have been with them for at least 6 months.

Yes, he could do just a 2nd line and have the DVR work, but then his next question will be how does he get the MRV working again.

Notice he said he has the home DVR (which is probably meant to say "whole home").

I believe they do by 1 year.

However, seeing as they have an HR24 and an H24, they are less then a year in to the current contract.
That being said, they will not tack an additional year on the existing contract therefore making the 1 year null.
