Looks Like Lin is back!

I guess I need to re-post my stand on this issue.
LIn should receive nothing for there signal all the distributors are doing them a favor delivering it to more household.
Dish needs to provide the over the air data to our receivers.
Lin is in this dispute to increasing profits
Dish is in this dispute to increasing profits
the viewer is the loser

How does each local station provide the up link to Dish? Or is it centralized. If each station provides the up linked signal to Dish, there are costs incurred in maintaining it. They should be FAIRLY compensated for that But if every company that owns locals demanded an excessive increase and got them, our costs would go through the roof.

Code:
Can a network like CBS apply some pressure to either LIN or Dish?

I was thinking the same thing. The longer this last, in the meantime I would assume that ratings for shows must be down. I'm sure this is hurting their pockets as well?

There are 2 ways that the signal gets to E* or D*. 1 they pick up the signal over the air then send it to the uplink via fiber. 2 they have a fiber link put into the station. The stations pay nothing for the fiber to be put into their facilities the provider pays all of that. In short the station is not out $$ to get the signal to E*or D*. I know this as having been an eng at TV stations.

I'm mostly thinking in terms of the upcoming basketball tournament. I don't watch CBS much, but for the tourney and NFL. Ultimately, I'll catch as much as I can on TBS and TNT. The rest I'll watch online if I have to.

They could but it is very unlikely they would. The stations pay the network they are affiliated to. So the network is unlikely to step into the matter. Unless they were to get a huge amount of complaints they won't do anything. It's better to go after advertisers who feel the pressure more due to lack of "eyes" on their ads.

CBS has already secured their advertisers and payments for that ! :) I wonder if they'll give a partial refund based on lower-than-projected numbers ? :D

As far as ratings, I know Nielsen tracks year-round, but don't the networks base their numbers on "sweeps week" only ?

They base their number completely on sweeps time periods. Sweeps are a month long 4 times a year but they don't pay much attention to summer.

Looks like they reached an agreement, as both my local NBC (KXAN) and CW (KNVA) are BACK on Satellite, and the EPG Information is good for both Satellite and OTA.

I'm doing a guide refresh now, but congratulations.

I still see the notices on KXAN.com, linmedia.com, and fairsatellite.com, so this may have JUST happened in the last hour or 2 (4:30am CDT).

[edit] The guide goes all the way out after the refresh.

Now we wait for the actual Press Release, but it looks like this is resolved.

At least our CBS affiliate in Indy. I'm assuming all others are as well. Scott was right about this weekend.

I think Scott mentioned he heard rumors they would be back this weekend, I didn't believe it. I saw the two CT stations were still showing the important info guide, so before there are more complaints about the guide not being correct, do a check switch.... :)
