VOD Bandwidth Usage Question

I would say, let us know what a phone CSR tells you, but I just read a thread where a CSR told a customer they can only record (2) programs with their 722 receiver, so they don't always give the RIGHT answer. Hopefully one of the IRT people from Dish will respond. I'm 100% confident they will tell you what we've told you... :)

I emailed them, I like to get things in writing.

And I'm hoping you all are right also, otherwise there are going to be problems if AT&T starts jacking my bill because of the additional bandwidth usage incurred by Dish pre-downloading VOD content to my dvr...

Like that ever stopped a company from giving out false information.

DISH On-Demand is delivered over satellite.
DISHOnline is downloaded over your broadband connection.
Guide data could be either, but even if it was primary over your broadband connection. That bandwidth would be so small in comparison to other things happening on your home network that it would make no impact on your caps.

Yes, I am also dropping U-verse Internet for Charter, because AT&T SUCKS! So not only does their TV suck, now their Internet does as well.

While I can't speak for your area (or their awful cable TV service), my Charter Internet Service has been awesome since they have flipped the switch on DOCSIS 3.0. They are one of the top ISPs in terms of available bandwidth for Netflix, and their "cap" is a generous 250GB down / month. I'm a heavy download-er and streamer and I have yet to come anywhere close to that in a given month. Can you tell that I'm a happy customer?

Why do you just do the easy thing and disconnect your DVR from the internet? It is simple and fast - find the ethernet cable and unplug. Dish does not have a connection charge any more. The only thing that will be hampered is your ability to order PPV from the DVR. Check out the VOD and see it change what is available without the connection. Look at your guide daily to see that it continues to work.

I have also read that even if you go over Charter's cap, they don't really enforce it unless you're clogging a node in your area and you're the top user. Beats the heck out of paying AT&T another dime. Can you tell that I hate AT&T? :p

My SB6120 arrived today so I'll be giving Charter the call and AT&T the finger :D .

Because I occasionally use the sling functionality and Dish Online often, since it is the only way to create Dish Passes on the 922.
