Were switching from DSL to Comcast internet....It was suggested to me that I should use a separate modem and router...I don't want to rent a modem from comcast so I found a Motorola SURFboard SB5101 and wanted your opinion on the modem also as far as a wireless router I was told to get a N/G router....is that the best way to go ?

I can recommend the D-Link DIR-655. It has worked great for me in the 3 years that I've had it.

The Motorola surfboard series are good modems. I have one that's 6 or 7 years old and still works fine. I'm using a NetGear WNR3500L router with Comcast (have used with both a Motorola 5120 and Linksys CM100) and it works perfectly - haven't dropped a signal in the 6 months I've had it. I previously used a Trendnet wireless N router and it was excellent also. Only reason I changed was to do a test for a company that furnished the N/G. I do recommend getting a wireless N with Gigabit ethernet, though unless you have no need now or in the future for the higher speeds.
