Would adding a 3ft length of coax cable from the 722k to the UHF antenna to allow me to mount the antenna on top of my entertainment center cause any problems with trying to pick up the signal from remote 2, in my son's room? The 722k is on the bottom shelf of the entertainment center.

We got a new remote from Dish, but he's still having problems with the 722k responding to the remote. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Ghpr13:)

I have rabbit ears hooked to my living room 622, but it is mounted waist high with one the rabbit ears hitting the ceiling, I can change the channel from my bedroom. (keep the other in my 3D room)

Thanks dfergie,
I'm really trying to avoid moving the 722k to a higher shelf, not just because of the work involve (disconnecting & re-connecting all the in/out puts) but also because my Samsung puts out those "LCD waves" that blocks my Harmony One for controlling my 722k. As it is, I had to put a pair of those cheap throw away sunglasses that you get from the eye doctor over the IR window on my 722k to help block out those "LCD waves", even with the 722k on the bottom shelf.

Yes, you can easily relocate the ant with a piece of cable and a barrel.
Is the new remote's address matched to the rec?
You could also make TV1 UHF to eliminate the sunglasses, or turn down the brightness or backlight of the tv

It will work just fine. I had the same problem with my 722. Attached a piece of coax with a barrel and moved the antenna about 5 ft away in a bookshelf. Works perfectly now.

Thanks. I'm going to recheck his remote address to make sure. I can't change TV1 to UHF because the Harmony One is IR only. Actually, the cheap sunglasses work really good. They curve around the 722k just right and they hold tight to it. Nobody really notices them at all. I'm pretty impressed that such a simple thing worked so well.:)

Yeah KAB, I thought of that, but it's just too much work for me right now. Plus I don't feel like hearing my beloved complaining about "more wires" & "more holes"!

If you are going to use a rabbit ears antenna then for best UHF reception (1/2 wave frequency match), the rabbit ears should not be extended.

It doesn't need any additional cable runs. You "backfeed" with diplexers ( or whatever they are called ). I did the same thing for the Attic and my bedroom. Works great.

I tried adding a 6 ft cable to the antenna and putting it on top of my entertainment center and still had issues ( appeared as lag ). Once I did the "backfeed", it worked like a champ. :)

What new wires (that would be visible) and new holes??? Look at the diagram more closely. You're just using the cable that is already going to TV2. Would take you no more than 15 minutes.
Lord Vader knows!!

OK, OK...I guess I'm a little off my game right now with having to take care of the wife. I did take another look at that diagram and seen what you both were telling me. (Maybe I just need to turn up my O2!)

During the mean time, I have rechecked the remote address and found out that the address was correct, but the remote hadn't accepted the information for some reason. I call Dish and Tech guy got me to pull plug on the 722k for 10 sec, reboot, and check system info again. This time remote responded like it should. Went into son's bedroom, and remote is working fine!

I think I'm still going to do what you suggested KAB. Seems like a better solution all the way around. I thank Lord Vader and you KAB for opening my eyes to the way of the Force!

I was trying to find this yesterday and couldn't, but it might help.

Dish Network TV 2 remote problems: Dish Network TV2 remote problems and fix
This is a terrible idea for the UHF remote problem!

If you analyze this "solution", you will see that basically you are introducing two additional splitters on your Sat signal. At best, you are cutting your Sat signal by a factor of four and that assuming you are using 3GHz splitters (nowhere this is mentioned).

If your Dish is not perfectly aligned, and/or, you have a long cable run from your Dish to the receiver, and/or, you use common 1GHz splitters, and/or, you have a little bit of rain, then you can kiss good bye to your satellite TV!

If repositioning the UHF antenna doesn't help you, then this is the only solution to the UHF remote problem!

If I'm not mistaken, the owner's manual for the 622, and possibly 722 and 722k, actually mention doing just this in case of issues with the TV2 remote not working well.
