Any official word as to what happened (technically) 9/13 & 9/14 with the 129 satellite? After all the talk about the loss, watching all the uplink changes, and 'rebirth' of HD to western-arc customers, I'm just techno-geek curious to know what caused it in the first place. I assume Dish knows but would they ever release that info?... or even if they are required to FCC??

It will leak out someday.
Probably something similar to What happened to E8 when it went berserk a while back. Intelsat published a nice article on how it can happen

Rumor has it, that the same guy who caused the HUGE power OUTAGE in California, Arizona, & New Mexico a week ago, press the wrong button again. This guy needs to be fired!!! :D:D:D:D

Details beginning to leak out regarding how situation was resolved.

The REAL cause was Human Error.

Not space debris, not cosmic rays, not even pigs in space...

Again it was Human Error. If you look at the huge 129 thread in main DISH forum there is a filing with the FCC from DISH which explains it all.

BTW the Human Error was not on DISH's side as its not their satellite to control. :)
