I know this question has been asked hundreds of times, but some of the information contradicts itself so I want to be sure of the answer.
I have an HR24 and H24 in my home. I want to be able to take the H24 with me when I travel. I have an 18" round dish that I've used in the past, but I could not get it to work at all yesterday. So, my proposed solution is to get the exact same dish/lnb combo I have on my home so there will be little to no configuration necessary when I set it up remotely. My theory is that I should just be able to unplug the receiver from my home wiring, plug it up to my "travel dish" and just go.
I cannot tell what dish/lnb I have as it is too high for me to see, but the info screen says Slimline-3S (SWM). What do I need to purchase in order for me to take the H24 with me? (I want to get SD and HD.)
In the past I've just hooked the receiver up and used its signal meter screen to point. Since I'm asking this question, obviously that method did not work yesterday. If I have the same dish as my home, will this method still work or will I need to get some sort of external signal meter to find the signal before I hook it to the receiver?
Thanks
