I was watching the A&M- Arkansas game on ESPN and as Arkansas is driving to go ahead with less than 2 minutes to go I start getting the "game not available in your area" message. UNACCEPTABLE and embarrassing.

I was able to find an SD feed on an ESPN alt channel but I missed some critical plays.

Terrible.

Directv dropped the game as well. I think this was ESPN's fault rather than Dish due to the blackout of the next game.

It is absurd. They need people monitoring this stuff. Idiots

Same happened to me. Immediately got on chat session with Dish support and they told me there was nothing they could do.

Not dishes fault, ESPN dropped the ball. the announcers should have told the viewers to flip over to the alternate channel to watch the last of the game. i knew about the alternate but a lot of my family and friends didn't. they should have made an announcement a couple minutes prior to the next game coming on. plus that game was long, way long. glad we won though!! Wooo Pig Sooie!!!! Welcome to the SEC A&M!!!

That's okay, it was Dish's fault anyway...it will probably be Dish's fault that it was dropped on Direct as well according to some people! ;)

ESPN is STILL blacked out for me. Shouldn't I be getting at least one of the two national ESPN feeds? DISH online customer service says they can't tell when it will come back on.

I always wondered how blackouts work on E*, as in who flips the switch on the blacked out channel. Last night's Detroit-Pittsburgh preseason NHL game was blacked out on NHL network and on FSN-Detroit, presumably because I am in the Pittsburgh local region...even though the game wasn't being carried by any of the Pittsburgh local channels or RootSports-Pitt. However, the game replay at midnight on FSN-Detroit was not blacked out, even though I have seen other FSN stations black out even their game replays, not just the live game. Are the blackouts triggered by program title, and that is why some game replays are blacked out and some aren't? Or is it up to the RSN to decide whether or not game replays get the blackout treatment? I've noticed that this blacking out of game replays is a recent (1-2 years) phenomenon.

Exactly. The blackout made ZERO sense here in Texas.

actually it makes perfect sense.

On Saturday afternoons there are 2 or 3 games on ESPN & ABC. One is on your local ABC and usually the other is on ESPN. Here is how it was set up this past weekend (2:30 CDT game)
using the OP's area (Texas) look at the maps
Michigan State was on ESPN Alternate (145). It was on ABC in most other areas

GA Tech/NC State was on 140 but in his market it was on game plan

Baylor/K-State was on ABC in his market. For everyone else it was on game plan

Thats why ESPN 140 was blacked out for the OP and not others.

Not sure if i was blacked out, I probably was, I have DirecTV, and I dont blame Dish, DirecTV, etc... It is the sports leagues, channels, etc... that black them out.

The companies have to abide by the rules, its stupid, but its normal.

Its like with any of the sports league subscriptions, like NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL.

I had Dish in 09, and had NBALP, but they dont have YES network, so if your a NJ Nets fan, your SOL, since all the games are usually blacked out.

I remember as a Rockets fan, we play them 2 times a yr, and both times were blacked out cause of no YES, in the NY area. It is extremely frustrating. You would think they would allow Dish to broadcast the games on the Rockets station on . Same with Nets on opposite teams network.

The moral to the story here is that if you are watching a game and it is going long, Remember the alternate channels for ESPN! If anyone dropped the ball it was ESPN producers who should have put a crawl up about the game running long or had the announcers tell the viewers what they should do. they all knew that when the 2:30 game came on it was going to happen. the fail goes to ESPN.

"Remember the ....Alternates!!"(not the Alamo :D:D)
