How do downgrade dual receiver with no contract extension?

I have two dual receivers. Signed the deal over 2 years ago when there was no fee for dual, so I took it. They put fees only after few months and I never used that dual mode. Now I dont want to resign the contract, just month-to-month. I have protection plan.

Is there a way to downgrade to solo HD receivers without paying fees & extending contract?

Any ideas?
