If our cell bill ever gets close to $300 we're dropping to basic phones with text.

And that's fine for you if you do that. Not everyone can just drop their smartphone plans and go to flip phones. A $300 cell phone bill is a choice, and for some (me) it's the only choice that they can make.

I gotta question the prices that you are quoting for VZW. I'm on a VZW family share plan with 5 smart phones, 5 unlimited data plans, unlimited text messaging for all 5 and a plain old cell phone thrown in to boot. My monthly cost before discount is something like $350, like $310 after discounts. I do have a 25% discount on my primary line, but my calling plan is the very current 1400 minute deal with SMS included.

I looked at Sprint during my last upgrade cycle when I could have moved 4 of my smart phones without an ETF. I think it was March of this year. Sprint was only about $30 a month less and AT&T was less than a $20 savings. I didn't consider T-Mo because their service in my area blows smelly bits.

Where I live,VZW is the voice and data coverage king and the savings from switching weren't worth it. If I were you I'd be going over my VZW bill to see what exactly you are paying for. You have to have some add on services to get your total for 3 lines so high.

I did, there are no add on services other than whats included in my bill allready for the text talk data and insurance. 50 bucks off the bat are for taxes, reglitory fees ,ect. I wanted to drop all of the data plans, and VZ refused to let me.

Yep, I'm just trying to figure out where I can get the most bang for the buck!

Anytime Minutes Monthly Account Access (for the first 2 lines) Line Access (up to 3) Overage
700 $69.98 $9.99/Month/Line 45¢/Minute
1400* $89.98 $9.99/Month/Line 40¢/Minute
2000* $99.98 $9.99/Month/Line 35¢/Minute
Unlimited $119.98 $49.99/Month/Line

235 for 3 phones is way too much there is an issue with your bill
heck unlimted for 3 lines would only be 170 + 30 for texting for a total of $200

You have to add in the data plans as well.. You are required to have them if you have a smart phone... No way around it. I tried to dump the data plans on all of my phones except for my iphone and VZ refused to dump them. VZ says they are a requirement and the only way to dump the data plans is to go to a flip phone.

Are you folks switching porting over your numbers or just getting assigned new ones? A few years ago I had to port over a number and it seemed to take a few days to accomplish.

i think all carriers require data for smartphones now
honestly if cost is an issue, go prepaid

I dont see how they are off.. This is a copy of my first bill ever with VZ, It's not even prorated for one month...

Im still missing something. It says current balance is $215 (which is about right) right at the top. Your first one may have been high for whatever reason, but it doesnt appear that it is that high every month.

215 current, 239 previous

something is amiss
your bill should not vary by more then $1 or 2 a month based on federal and state fees

When we switched from ATT to Sprint last year, they were able to port the old numbers over (4 lines) in just a few minutes while I waited in the store...

How can I be wrong when I have real bills to prove it. You are also including the tethering plan on your pricing. Why did you not include that on your sprint pricing? Personally I don't care who you pick but your pricing is off on how you described things earlier in the thread.

There is no teathering included.. I never included teathering at all.. The datapro plan is not teathering, its the data plan for the phone itself.... as indicated when you sign up!!! Here is the screen shot!Iphone.PNG

The 4gb plan was the one that included tethering before. I would have to look into that one.

Just checked and the 4gb plan is the tethering plan. Go online and click the down arrow to view the details.
