922 help

Was told I could get the 922 free...

Would love ti do so but to really take advantage of this will I have to have internet connection correct???

If I dont have internet of there any equipment I could purchase that would allow me to fully utilize the 922???...or do I need to get internet connection before I can do anything???

Sounds like you need internet connected to set up global timers, at least.

You'll need a broadband connection in order to use the Sling abilities. For everyday use at home you do not need internet.

You do need an internet connection in order to use the 922's sling feature (view TV on computer/mobile device). Unless you want it solely for the larger hard drive and UI, I would go with a 722/722k (you can always add an EHD if you need more recording space).

I'm of the belief that graphic tiles used for the info and my recordings are sent via internet, NOT satellite. So, unless someone can confirm otherwise, I don't think you will get immediate cover art tiles for your info screen, My recordings or any of the other content. Dish has a default cover art tile that looks like a MS Windows starfield, otherwise, you're supposed to be getting the actual movie or series cover art to help identify your programming and recordings and soon to be accessed BBMP, and that, I believe, is sent via internet for immediate and often update.

I was getting the cover art for most of the movies and shows I recorded before I connected the receiver to the internet. There are a few here and there that just used a generic cover before I connected but that is still the case.
