Have searched and searched to try to find how to do it. We have dish with our 722 DVR in the basement, we have a TV in the living room and a TV in the bedroom and we was hoping to be able to find a way to get HD to all 3 TV's without having to buy more receivers...

Is it possible?

Could I buy some long HDMI Cables and run them?
Component?

Would purchase whatever I need from Monoprice.

Best solutions would be appreciated.

Do you really think you can get by with three TVs all tuned to the same channel??? By the time you buy cables and a splitter, you would be close to/exceed the cost for a year for a 211(receiver fees). Contact a DIRT member about getting at least a 211(which can become a DVR) leased. At least you would have one room independent.

Search for HDMI Splitters (at monoprice or Amazon or your on-line retailer of choice). I use a 1x4 powered splitter to feed two locations & it works very well. If you use Component on the basement HDTV you could just buy a 1x2 splitter to save some money (but limit any future uses).

You'll have to figure the distance on cable runs; like garys says - the long HDMI cables are pricey.

We would really be happy if we could just atleast get HD in the living room, the bedroom isn't a huge deal.

So how about this:

This may reach, although I'm not sure and will adjust accordingly

25 or 50 foot HDMI cable from Monoprice

Splitter:

Product ID: 8154 1x2 Amplified Splitter on Monoprice

or

Would a regular one work: Product ID: 8204 on Monoprice.

The only bad thing is a remote signal will not change the channels from upstairs to downstairs where the 722 is, so it would be hard to change the channel, is there a fix for that as well?

You could use 5 wire component cable and uhf remote. The HDMI splitter might only supply signal to one tv at a time.

Uhm, how can ya use the UHF Remote when that only works the SD signal, we're wanting HD in both the basement and living room

Component it is.

So I'm assuming that the TV in the basement will have HD with the HDMI cable and the TV upstairs will have HD with the component cables

You got it.. If there is a problem with remote working, you might have to run a coax cable from the uhf antenna on on dvr to the extension tv, then put the little antenna on the end of the coax.

Hello,

I think one of the easiest and cheapest ways is to simply use Cat 6 cable and a HDMI connection at the end. There are many examples of this but here is a link from amazon

Amazon.com: HDmi Over CAT5/CAT6 Wallplate Extender Kit Hdmi for f: Electronics

Cat 5/6 cable is not too expensive then you just need the HDMI connections at each end. I think you can go for hundreds of feet with no major loss in quality too.

Anyway, something to think about....

Just going to go with 50 foot of 5RCA component cables and be done with it. Under $20 bux on mono price ebay.
