He has his Dish system now and would like another system put in place at his mother's house with in a mile of his residence. What does Dish have for special billing for this instance.

Yes, the special billing is a new account at the separate address. Even if they live next door, Dish still requires there to be two separate accounts setup. Dish does not allow multiple locations to be setup under the same account, if they do find out (and there is a team dedicated to finding people) they will shut down all but the primary receiver on the account and you will not be able to use the other receivers again or add any more to that account.

I have 3 separate accounts in my name and all three at different addresses that I installed and all three are linked to my credit card. I'm sure DISH has no problems allowing customers to have as many accounts as they want , as long as they pay for them and all the respective receivers that are on each account stay with that account and no "stacking".

WOW .... really? Their out in force looking for the perpetrators doing this! Gasp ... it certainly must be a serious issue! I wonder if it might be a national security concern and we need to get the Fed's in on it too!

Yes, there are many threads about the Dish audit team. They do catch people who are account stacking (one account used at multiple locations), but they also do a good job harassing legitimate customers who are following the rules. I don't believe the DirecTV does this, but I don't have any experience with DirecTV, I'm sure someone else can confirm that.

How could they possibly find out unless you hook it up to the internet? I use a separate dish when traveling in the RV and just take one of our extra receivers and have never had a problem hooking it up anywhere.

if you have many receivers on your account that are not hooked up to a phone or internet connection you may get a call from the audit team to verify there location I.D.s.....if you only have 1-3 receivers they probably will never contact you...

I had an account with 2 receivers on it and they did contact me a few years ago. I also had two phone lines in the house each with a different number, and one being VOIP a different city but the same address. The audit team called and I had to have access to all receivers, and tuners (TV1 and TV2) to verify and read back specific information from the screens that they asked me to go to. At the time of the call, I couldn't control TV2 and they actually did shut down that receiver until I sent them a phone bill from the account showing the address was in fact the same as the service address. Once everything was verified, I did gain programming back on that receiver. So chances are you can go for years without the audit team calling, but if you have two different phone lines connected to each receiver, chances are they will call sooner or later wondering why or if you don't have phone lines connected. And I also believe that if your phone number is restricted, that Dish will still ID the number in their system regardless.

So what the hell is their point other than being ...........?

If you pay your bill for the service you receive it is a moot point if the receiver is sitting on your couch or in the garage or in Calif or in Washington ... same box, same cost and same bill being paid.

Just another GREAT reason not to deal with these people. Many, many years ago this started out as affordable. Now the cost is more than my parents house payment!

Some one is getting rich somewhere and they are all in kahoots on the pricing. Should be an anti trust suit filed against then, the premiums and Direct.

Wait. It's not the same bill, same cost. The access fee for a second or third receiver is nowhere near as much as the full bill for service. In fact, the access fee is the same if you have basic service only or if you have every single channel offered.

I pay about $140 am month for my Dish service and I have pretty much everything except international programming. I wish my house payment was was $140 a month or even my property tax payment..... When you make these silly comments you lose any credibility to the rest of your argument... ;)

Just because YOUR house payment is too much for you that does NOT mean that my parents house payment is.

To be exact ... their house payment is exactly $94/month and they aren't financed up to to their eyeballs.

Now when you shoot off you mouth with silly conclusions based on your personal financial problems, and have absolutely no clue what you are talking about, then YOU have lost any credibility you may have obtained after 17,000 + posts ...LOL.

$140/month for TV .... what can I say about that. Does it work OK on your Yacht ... hahaha

Have a good one!

Where in my prior post did I say that I had any personal financial difficulties? I simply stated that I'd love to have a house payment or even a property tax payment as low as my Dish bill. If your folks get a house payment of $94 a month, that's great for them. Personally if my house payment was that small, I'd pay off the entire thing and have none at all. Perhaps they have no mortgage at all and $94 a month pays for their property tax and homeowners insurance.

I am retired, pay all of my bills, travel to Europe annually, have no credit card debt, and am in reasonable financial shape. Am I having a good one? Damn straight I am!

Well Bobby if you are retired and travel, pay your bills, have no CC debt then why don't you just pay off that house and not have the payment?

Actually I've been to China, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Philippines, Germany, Spain, Italy, UK and a few other places over the past 20 years. I'm tired of the travel and Europe on a whole literally sucks now. I am also retired and have 3 homes and guess what .... NO house payments ... LOL. I'm also doing fine.

So what does all that get you ... not a damn thing and coffee is still the same price.

My only point to start with was about dish and the high cost of Sat. TV these days. You chimed in with an ill informed and rather snide remark that was not accurate and I called you on it. Simple stuff. As for the folks, I bought them the house and they recently took a loan on it with a $94/mo payment .... go figure.

Merry Christmas and and enjoy some of that nice wine and lamb in Spain for me.
