Help With Understanding Modes

Just got Dish and have the 722K receiver. The installer got sick and had to leave during the install leaving me to finish up.

The receiver is hooked to one TV (via HDMI) that is our main TV. There will not be a second TV hooked up to it.

The RG6 comes from the satellite, goes into a splitter and then the two lines into the receiver.
On the front of the DVR under "Mode", a yellow light is lit by a picture of two TVs.
Right now, TV1 has a green light on the left and a red light on the right (I am recording). TV2 has no lights lit up at all.
The Guide says I am in Dual Mode and shows a green box with a 1 and a purple box behind that.
I am using a remote that says 1 and it is set to IR.

I cannot watch a second program while recording one. If I am recording and try to change channels, I get a message that says I am going to stop recording and go into live mode.

I assume this is a mode issue but I am unclear on which mode I need to be in and how to get there.

When set correctly, how many shows can I record while watching a live show?

TIA

welcome :wave

since there wont be a 2nd TV hooked up the best thing to do is use Single mode. On the receiver itself (I think behind the panel on the right...push that to show the panel) there is a button that says "mode". Push that and it should show "single" being lit.
That will allow you to record two sat programs and two over the air (if you bought the module for that and use an antenna) at same time

Change the receiver to single mode if you only have it connected to 1 TV. With our receivers, you can record 1 show, while watching another live show. If you are recording 2 shows, you will need to be watching one of those shows, or a previously recorded event

With the receiver in single mode, so long as only 1 show is recording, the receiver will allow you to change channels without stopping the recording (the receiver will change to the other tuner on your receiver)

PS, welcome to the forums :D

*EDIT* ICE BEATS ME AGAIN?!

Matt is the button for that in that hidden panel on the right side of the 722?
I know on my dad's 625 its in the open but looks hidden on the 722k

yes on the right side behind a door. The hinge for the door is at the bottom, you press in along the front top about 2 inches from the right edge..

To our OP I would hope the installer has made arangements for someone else to come to your house to finish and again offer apologies for the tech getting sick.

Yes, it's behind the door as TG2 mentioned.

If the OP has any problems, or questions about his service, he can feel free to send me a PM

It's been a long time since I messed with it, so maybe I'm remembering it wrong, but if you're in dual mode, can't you hit the swap button to view the other tuner? The reason I'm thinking that I'm NOT remembering it wrong is because nobody above has said anything about having to hit the swap button in single mode, only that it'll change automatically, but I know I've hit the swap button to do it before. (On new remotes, the swap button is in the PIP cluster, but it used to be by itself.)

Wow. I wasn't expecting any answer till tomorrow, thanks!

There is a button behind the door and I am now in single Mode. I can record 1 and watch live TV.
Thanks! And thanks for the welcome.

Now I'll do some searching on the 211Ks I have in the other rooms. The installer was supposed to bring SD DVRs for those rooms but he brought these. Looks like adding an external HDD may be the cheaper route any way.

Thanks again :D

EDIT:
Just tried the Swap button and it did nothing. Mode stayed in Single.
