A couple weeks ago my local Blockbuster store got in Piranha in 3D but for retail sale only. Then yesterday, they got in a special Smurfs in 3D "rental special" This is an excellent sign since BB now has acknowledged that there is a demand for 3DBD in rental.

Does this mean that 3D is now mainstream? :)

BB Mail order also has quite a few rentals and I now am getting them with my Dish movie pass deal. I purged my queue and filled up with all the 3D titles.

As an additional note- Netflix also has quite a few 3D titles now available too. I did the same with Netflix queue.

I think 2012 is going to be a wonderful year for 3D.

Happy 3D New Year folks.

My local BB to where I live shut down at the end of the year.

Has anyone actually received a 3D Blu-ray from Netflix??

For example, I see they have Hubble 3D, but according to reviews Netflix ships a 2D version. How do you make them ship a 3D version of any movie?

Don't know but I loaded my Queue up with 3D titles and we'll see. Meanwhile, I'm getting more 3D from BB. I saw where a poster on AVSForum said they got the 2D version from Netflix of Hubble 3D. It's on my queue too but near the bottom of the list because I own it.

3D enthusiasts need to continue to make actual requests so Netflix will see a demand.

Just called NetFlix, and according to the CSR, NetFlix does not offer any 3D Blu-ray movies at the moment.
He did take my request though, and said that he owns a 3D set himself and would be interested in that too!

If this is true that BB sends out 3D titles (can someone confirm?) and NetFlix does not, then it will be a sufficient reason for me to switch over.

BB DOES have some true 3D Bluray rentals although evidently they don't have much of an inventory as I've had several titles at the top of my list for weeks & they continue to say "short wait". Guess that depends on your definition of "short"...... I have received and watched Green Lantern & Cave of Forgotten Dreams.

Ilya- what phone number did you use to make your Netflix call? I want to call them but haven't found a good number. Top brass claims they do have 3D titles so there is a disconnect between person you spoke with and the CEO making official statements to the stockholders. If CEO lied then this is a serious SEC violation. But the performance from where I sit supports the person you spoke to. As a stockholder, I plan to write a letter to Hastings to get to the bottom of this mystery.

old corps- I just got 3D of Haunting in Salem from BB today. This is the second disk I got from them since Jan 6th! Yes, they are extremely slow. I have over 30 titles in my queue.

Don't remember which number, but I got it from their website. It's not easy to find, but when you try to get technical support on their website, after a few troubleshooting pages you finally get an option to contact their customer support over the phone.

If they don't start offering 3D titles, I am switching over to BB. :)

Don, if you do contact Netflix, you can simply point out some of the customer reviews posted on their website.
Here are some recent reviews of IMAX: Hubble (Hubble 3D) as an example:

Great Movie! Visual effects and some of the camera shots of the launch sequences i have never seen before.Very stunning! Again, although advertised as 3D, IT IS NOT IN 3D! They are not supporting ANY 3D Titles. If you see anything about 3D in any other titles, WARNING, It wont be in 3D. (such as Resident evil: After life, IMAX: Space station, StepUp 3D). This is a great service but they have to get with the times. Lets go people, GET ON IT!

I too was disappointed because I recently puchased 3-D tv and couldn't wait to see this feature. If it hadn't said it was in 3-D I might have ordered it still and not been so disappointed.

This is not 3D. Dont waste your time. None of 3D rental are 3D! Feel like being cheated.

If anyone receives any actual 3D Blu-ray title from Netflix, please let us know!

Thanks, I'll check that out.

Bad news on the 3D disk A Haunting in Salem I just got from Blockbuster. Waited almost a month of no disks at all for this. It won't play! :( :(
Tried it on 3 3D players I have here.

It appears to have a very tiny scratch

I'll have to send it back and probably won't get another disk on my queue until March. At this rate it's cheaper to buy the 3D disks new at Best Buy than do this Dish Network BB online scam.
