Hopper3 Sling, Sony DH-510 amp. I have eliminated speakers and TV by swapping with others. When I pause a show on Dish no problem, but when I un-pause I hear a loud pop in the right channel only. (I switched speaker wires on amp and it changed to the other speaker. Also tried different HDMI cables ARC. Seems like it must be Hopper or amp. Can somebody please help me figure out which one?

It's the amp.

You might try hooking up the audio using the optical connection and employing the "Input Mode" button as discussed on page 52 of the manual.

The manual mentions elsewhere that when switching modes, the sound may be dropped, but would guess that it is also possible that it may try playing the audio assuming some bad default parameters.

I have the same problem with the H3. Right Channel? For everything except for DISH HD programming, the volume is 15dB louder. Even SD programming. So when switching to another source in the box or device you will have your AVR turned up more. SO when you pull up those sources it's gonna be loud. So when the box pops, it's unnecessarily louder than it needs to be and that will over drive that pop through that speaker.

If DISH would up the volume for the HD channels you wouldn't have to have the volume on your AVR so loud. I have tried all variations of hook Ups and for a bit the pop will go away. But invariably it comes back.

Sent from my SM-T280 using the SatelliteGuys app!

This suggests a mechanical problem in the H3 where it may be building up a static charge that drains when the stream restarts.

I'd off-load the recordings and then call DISH and see what they're willing to offer you in terms of a replacment.

The volume disparity has been an issue going way back to before volume leveling.

Since the sound is suspended, this would also be a stop in the audio bitstream.

Yes. That would also be called an "Unclean Audio Stage" when that "disruption" is muffled. There are supposedly many safe guards that are put in place to keep this from happening. I'm not surprised that the DISH box is leaking and my Pioneer AVR is not handling it well. Pioneer has really gone down hill. With my older Pioneer gear this does not happen. But then it doesn't happen with any other source except the DISH DVR. Have not heard it when using the Netflix or Youtube apps though. But then there are many times when I'm watching live or recordings that I hear clicking and or popping and see the Codec and Channel indicators on my AVR ping pong.
