Questions about The Hopper?

You could, however it would be convenient to setup daily as there is a point where we are chopping off the end of one show to catch another on Wednesday. The third tuner would help, but being able to set the days would be nice so that most nights you have 3 tuners available during prime time.

How many actual TV's do you want to feed, 5? Also Joeys do not have Coax connections for SD TVs, only composite (which could be used with an RF modulator).

No ota support at release. A usb ota tuner will be available eventually, we hope. The fees for 1 Hopper and I Joey would be $17. An additional Hopper and each Joey would be $7 each.

$17 includes the $6 DVR fee. If you are upgrading from a DVR such as the ViPs to the H/J I wouldn't consider that an additional fee.

722 and Hopper

I have a 722 connected to living rm. tv and bedroom tv. I have a 508 in extra bdrm. I would like to retire the 508 and move the 722 to my bdrm and extra bdrm and have a Hopper in living rm. I read earlier that the two can't mix...is that correct? If not, Will I have to put a Hopper and one joey in bdrm or two joey's so the extra bdrm has a signal ?? how much will my bill go up? I have the EVERYTHING PACK and pay 132.00 now...don't want to go higher if I can help it/// thanks

My wife came up with a good one. She understands about seeing what I'm watching by looking at available tuners. She'd also like to see what I'm watching off the DVR, in case she'd like to see it also. Then press pause to pause what I'm watching while she comes to join me.

No, not a short leash. It's just that I've watched and deleted shows I had no idea she planned on watching also.

I realize it's unlikely, but would such a "see what he's watching off the DVR" feature be available?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but how long will it take to install a Hopper and 2 Joeys if I currently have 2 622's (1 622 for HD and SD; 1 622 for HD only) given the installer knows what s/he is doing? P.S. My Ethernet can be connected to the TV that has the HD connection only.

Will there be a report available to see how often all three tuners are in simultaneous use? Something like X times since Y date. This would be of great assistance in determining if springing for a second Hopper is a good idea.

Is there any inherent reason Dish could not add on RVU compatibility to the Hopper system? This could be another good marketing point.

I have seen the comments about current customers and I get very frustrated that Dish still wants to give new customers the best deals. We have been with Dish continuously since July 1998. We have the VIP622 and the AT250 and would love the HJ set up, however, we have been frustrated with the programming in the last several months. We barely watch 30 channels in this lineup, there seems to be a new shopping channel added monthly. It would be nice if Dish took care of it's long term customers who have helped them get where they are. Have you seen any discussions regarding us old timers? I sometimes think I should switch to DTV and then come back to get some of the perks that I can't get, but I have seen their DVR and hate it compared to Dish. Thanks for all the info on here, I have really enjoyed all the information available!

Could Dish consider a policy that one and only one ViP could be on the Hopper network? And it had to be a ViP211 series (for tailgaters) OR a ViP922, which would marry up to the Hopper (to thwart account stacking). And make the ViP922 act as a part of the network, thereby adding tuners and more DVR space and redundancy (CSRs could "suspend" the "marriage" when a defective Hopper is being returned). Yes, I know the ViP922 is being phased out. But this could make good use of the investment already made in the ViP922 and probably not require much additional coding (since much of it could probably be copied from the Hopper/Joey code base). Even if no more ViP922s were to be built, there is a no doubt a significant number already bought and paid for. If it turns out to be a popular option, thought can be given to a ViP922 successor.

Wouldn't this be a great option and a strong marketing point for Dish?
