My parents are moving to the sticks (120miles away) but would like to keep their Houston local channels. Ideas anyone?

Maybe I could find a friend in Houston that I could 'move' them to so their physical address would be here and then just pay someone cash to install the dish and cabling in Austin. Then I can go and plug in the equipment there.

I'd hook them up with my address but I've got dish as well.

Check out the spotbeam footprint. Austin may be within the Houston spotbeam, in which case they can "move" back to you place after their installation.

What's wrong with that idea? It's perfect! There are no rules prohibiting multiple accounts at the same address. Account stacking is when you have one account at multiple addresses.

Here is the WA(Western Arc) spotbeam for locals.

and here is the EA(eastern arc)

It looks like if they are on the EA already then they would have no problem, but if they are on WA then it might be hard to pull in a signal depending on just where their new house is.

Well, this would be reverse Account Stacking. I just called dish on this. I have to have an Apt A and Apt B setup.

Looks like they covered in both spotbeams.

Say what? Are you telling us that Dish has invented a new rule to prevent multiple accounts at the same address? This is going to outrage a lot of their best customers.

I know I have the same physical address for both of my accounts and I use different apartment numbers. It works fine for "moving " accounts.

im kind of in the same boat. i currently receive tulsa ok local channels but when football season comes around i was wanting either wichita ks or joplin mo locals to receive the chiefs games b/c tulsa doesnt carry them. can someone post the spot beam prints of those markets to see which i should go with so i can get these stations? what all does it take to acquire these different locals?

not sure about about the spotbeams but your going to need to fake a move. If you've got family their just have dish move you to that address. Then manually move yourself back. Call dish and have only the billing address changed.

If you are within the 100 miles of the spotbeam ,you should be able to "move"easily. All you have to do is google search say movie addresses in the city you want to move to and add an apartment number to it. Check to see if the address is eligible for locals you want on the DISH locals website. IF so do a chat online with the DISH online csrs and tell them you moved yourself to the following address. Tell them your billing address stays what it was and the phone number hasn't changed. You're all set. IN my case I live in a town 90 miles from Houston. I'm well within the range of the spotbeam for either arc . I get a 50 strength on the spotbeam for Houston locals. I've had Houston locals for years. Using the ota tuner on my 722k receiver I get my real locals too , complete with guide information. So two sets of locals and I can record 4 shows from the networks at a time using both the two ota tuners and the two sat tuners.
