I'm interested in upgrading my system to a 1 hopper 2 joey system. In the past Dish has always done my upgrade/install. I was wondering which way is better to go? To go with Dish for the upgrade/install or to hve a local dealer do it? What are the advantages/disadvantages of each? I also don't know who I should pick as the local installer should I go that way. I live in the 08080 zip code.

Suggetsion tips are requested in this matter.

Thanks

If you go to this site DISH - Support - Tools & Apps and plug in your zip, you'll find that your nearest retailer in in Lansdowne, Pa.

How do you set up an upgrade through DIRT? How does one contact DIRT? I was planning to just call the main Dish number like always do for an upgrade.

Send a PM to the members in red on the main forum screen. ZachS should be on in the morning and RaymondG, MattG, and MaryB should be on in the afternoon and evening (not sure if Mary works on Thursdays or not). Here is a screenshot.

And what's the advantage of PMing them, and not just calling Dish? That they're more knowledgable?

The biggest advantage of using a local retailer is the level of service. It you find a good retailer I is nice knowing the people doing you're install. If you have questions or need work done in the future you can get the same installer back.

I do understand that there are some crappy retailers out there too. If you know of a good retailer in the area I'd go with them. If you've never heard if any in the area maybe it's beast to go directly with dish.

Today sucked. Ever since the ces convention...and news bout Hopper...been really lookin forward to it. I called dish today...to see what tier I fell under. Freakin C....$449 a hopper....$200 a joey. I need 2 hoppers and three Joeys...so that would be very expensive. Ive only been with dish for three months now....eight years in the past...been with att last three years. Ive paid my bill before its due and all that. So...sucks. Was lookin to pay $200 bucks....not over a grand! any ideas??

PM someone from DIRT. Don't know if they can help. But your a new subscriber. Your old history most probably doesn't count since it's a different account. Do you really expect to get the same benefits of someone who has been with Dish for years? You left Dish, what do you expect?
You may have to bide your time and wait a year before upgrading.

Being with Dish for 3 months is why. You haven't been with them long enough to qualify for any promotions. A plan C should not have to purchase equipment though. Chances are you don't even qualify for the promotion. if you were a plan C you you pay $200 for the Hopper and $100 for each Joey.
