Are the channels on the Encore package in HD?
I haven't found anywhere, and it didn't say they are in HD, but I don't know.
I want to add the package because it's just $5, but if channels are not HD I won't.

There are several ways to sub to the Encore channels.

For only the main feed of Encore East HD, you would need one of the following: Starz ($13/month in addition to your monthly fees;SD feed of Encore East is currently only available through Starz), America's Top 250 ($69.99/month), Dish America Gold ($59.99/month), or America's "Everything" Pak ($104.99/month). To see the HD channel, you would need HD Free for Life or the $10 HD add-on.

The $5 a la carte Encore Movie Pack add-on (for those without America's Top 250 or America's "Everything" Pak) includes Encore West (plays everything 3 hours later from Encore East but currently not in HD), Encore Westerns, Encore Action, Encore Suspense, Encore Drama, Encore Love, and MoviePlex. (Note: Currently, Encore East SD or/and HD and Encore Family are not included in the add-on.)

Encore Suspense (along with MoviePlex, IndiePlex [HD only on Dish], RetroPlex [HD only on Dish], and Starz Cinema) are included in Blockbuster @ Home for $10/month. Here is a complete list of the channels (depending on if you have SD or/and HD receivers):

The main Encore channel is HD. The rest are SD.

The main Encore feed (both SD and HD) is not included in the $5 Encore Movie Pack a la carte add-on. In addition, Dish does not currently offer the HD feeds of Encore Drama and Encore Action.

Do they include retro and indie in the $5 package? they are in HD too

Unfortunately, RetroPlex and IndiePlex are not available in the Encore Movie Pack. They are carried only in HD on Dish. Currently, both channels are only in the $10 Blockbuster @ Home add-on.

Along with IndiePlex HD, RetroPlex HD, the $10 Blockbuster @ Home add-on includes Hallmark Movie Channel, Encore Suspense (SD only), Starz Cinema (SD only), MAVTV HD, Velocity HD, Universal HD, Crime & Investigation HD, Palladia HD, Centric HD, Logo HD, MoviePlex (SD only), EPIX, EPIX 2, EPIX 3, HDNet Movies, MGM HD, Sony Movie Channel (HD only), PixL, Sundance (SD only), and World Fishing Network (SD only).

In addition, you may also get one disc at a time with Blockbuster @ Home, If you want additional discs all at one time sent (maximum of three), each additional disc a month is $5/month.

Oh. I have AT 250 which comes with the Encore channels including Encore HD. I assumed the Encore pack would be set up the same way but that is good information to know.

We were thinking about dropping down to AT 200 and adding back the Encore pack because my elderly father loves Encore Westerns. In the end I decided there were other channels we watch such as Boomerang and NBC Sports so it wasn't worth the $5 savings.

Yes, the Encore setup is quite confusing at times with Dish.

I can understand the reasoning behind not going from AT250 to AT200. Boomerang is great, too! We actually went from AT250 and Blockbuster @ Home (before it was called that) to Dish Latino Dos (which does have Boomerang but does not have NBC Sports) with the Encore Movie Pack.

I haven't looked at the actual channel lineup for Latino Dos but no one in my house speaks Spanish and I assume we would lose some other channels we do watch besides NBC Sports. We only watch that channel for NHL national games as well as the playoffs.

Another option would be Epix a la carte for $7/month. This add-on would include Epix 1, Epix 2, Epix 3, and Epix Drive-In. Epix 1, Epix 2, and Epix 3 are in HD, and I would think they would be included in HD if you have an HD receiver. However, for $3/month more, Epix 1, Epix 2, and Epix 3 are included in Blockbuster @ Home with more channels and one disc at a time.
