MLB Strike Zone to Launch

My Pens NHL replays weren't blacked out until the start of the 2010-11 season, and from then on, they were too. Most others started getting blacked out too. I only remember a handful of teams' replays that weren't, before I moved to my home market and dropped the sports pack. I assume it's the teams that determine what gets blacked out, and the provider that implements it?

I can tell you that the live look ins are not live most of the time. Since we over at DirecTV have EI we can view the mix channel to see each game at the same time. When I see something happen in one game I switch to the mix channel and they will replay what just happened a few seconds to over a minute after it happened.

Live look ins aren't going to work well with baseball compared to football. Anything can or can't happen at any moment in baseball, whereas in football major game changing/scoring events are more predictable (red zone). With most of the updates being after the fact, it has more of a feel of a Baseball Tonight highlight show.

I was thinking the same that to me it feels like a highlight show, has a different feel then Redzone

Maybe the production crew will get into more of a flow and be able to make it more suspenseful. Right now, not so much.

+1. There isn't much suspense and the flow could be much better. I'll be watching the free preview some until it's over on the 24th. For now, it isn't worth $9 month as I already have DA Silver and get the sports networks I want. I'd consider and likely pull the trigger if this could be added to DA. As some others have stated it is going to be much different going from one game to the next (as RedZone does) with the same success you have with football. I've spent more time tonight watching the Braves game on Fox Sports South and the Reds on MLB Network.

When DirecTV had it as their own a few years back as part of their EI package it did have a different feel. Then again, I barely watched it. I usually watched the game mix channel

What do you guys think so far about strike zone, for me not to sure yet.

Unlike most people here I actually like it. For me it's all about fantasy sports. I like redzone and strike zone because they allow me to see all the big plays that affect my matchups as they are happening.

If you're not a fantasy sports guy I can see how you wouldn't like either channel. My dad hates watching redzone with me. He would rather pick any one game and stick with it because you can't get into the momentum and flow of a game when they keep switching between them

I don't think I will add the sports pack for two nights a week but I would if I didn't have MLB.TV. I will enjoy this channel during the free preview though.

What I liked was getting to see some of the Mets highlights. Didn't like the end result of the game, but you can't win them all. I'll take this 4-1 record over where they're usually at by this point.

I once told a friend that if any MLB team EVER has a perfect regular season, I will eat a frozen hamburger on a stale bun. That's how sure I am that it will never happen. ;)

Also, unlike other sports the winning percentage of the first place team and last place team is usually only a difference of 10%. First place teams usually win about 58% of their games (94 games), and last place teams about 47% (76 games)

+1. I know we are barely a week in but things are a little surprising for the start. A loss is a loss but IMO that one doesn't sting quite as bad as I'm expecting the Nats to surprise some people this year. They look to have a good pitching staff in place if everyone can stay healthy. I'm just interested to see how things turn out with the wild card spot though I think a three game series (giving the division winners a break) would have been better.

You won't be eating that way. ;)

I would agree that to me the channel has sports talk highlight show, maybe if they extended the look ins a little longer of that is even possible

With all the Yankees coverage they had last night it would have been nice to see some of the Yankees stuff from the YES feed. :)
