Default favorites list My Channels is a feature not a bug. You've got to be kidding me!

I just looked and I was incorrect in saying Favorites 1, 2 , etc. It is actually List 1, 2, etc. That said, Gary has proved that the naming of the Favorites list is not the issue fix. Now, the only thing I can think of that is different from what Gary and I have set up is my Auto-tune. Gary, just for more jeepers, set up an auto-tune for ABC7 News at 5AM and see if that fixes it. Doesn't make sense, I know, but you and I are almost set-up exactly the same, same area, western arc, etc... You have the issue, I don't. Something is causing that to happen. Maybe if we can isolate what it is we can get it fixed permanently for every one.
If I remember!

But, a workaround really shouldn't be necessary. It should just behave properly, meaning it should always remain on the last guide choice. Period.

The only other acceptable option would be to have a user setting for default guide in the system menu.

I agree Gary, but.... I'm trying to figure out what I am doing that causes my Hopper, and 722 before it, to work the way we all want it to while many are having it do something else.

So you're saying if you pick any favorites list in the guide, the following day it will still default to that list rather than My Channels? Does your Hopper reboot nightly? What software version do you see if you press Menu Menu?

I think that Bobby is saying his Hopper never goes into standby mode, as he uses a timer as a keep-alive. And, that is what might be keeping his chosen guide selection intact.

OK, I went so far as to turn off my Hopper last night before going to bed. I got up this morning and went it directly to my Favorites list that I had it on last night. I do an auto-tune every day after the nightly reboot just to get rid of the need to push select to come out of standby. I did notice that the Hopper was 'on' this morning even though I turned it off last night. So, it appears that turning the Hopper off at night doesn't change anything.

A little off topic here but I too noticed that both of my Hoppers were "on" this morning when I got up. I knew I turned them both off last night so I turned the TVs on to see what was happening and both Hoopers were in standby mode even though the green lights were on. Never saw that before.

Yes, that is exactly what I am saying. My Hopper does a reboot every night even though I leave it on. I get guide updates and software updates just like everyone else. I am presently on S207, just like everyone else. The reboot happens at 1 AM, just like everyone else. I have an auto-tune channel set for 5AM daily.

I'm not sure if this is coincidence, or if it's something they did deliberately with the 208 FW. But, for the first time in quite some time (since I got 207?), I turned the Hopper on after getting home from work, and the EPG was still set to the Favorites list I had left it on the day before!

Another day gone by, and the guide is still set to my Favorites. I'm really starting to think they may have fixed this in the 208 sw release, even though it isn't mentioned in the change list.

I forgot to check mine this morning. The better half was up before me. I'll try to remeber to ask her what it was set on when I get home from work later.

Okay everyone keeps saying that the ViPs do this as well. My 722Ks only default to "My Channels" if you leave it on "All Channels." If you leave it on a favorites list, it stays. From what I am gathering (do not have H/J, will within a week,) Hopper/Joey will default to "My Channels" not only if you leave it on "All Channels," but also if you leave it on any favorites list. If that is true, that's really dumb. U-verse was that way when I had it, and I hated it.

You are correct but the myth continues to live for some reason. The VIP only changed if you left it on all channels, changing it to my channels. If someone thought their other guides were changing they are mistaken, or there is a problem with their particular VIP. It was discussed and acknowledged by Dish it was done on purpose.

There seems to be some reports in this thread that the personalized Guides were not sticking on the Hopper. I do see a few posts, but not anywhere near enough to make it for sure that is the case for everyone. In fact re-reading the posts, I'm not sure more than one or two actually said their favorites lists change.

My vip922 always returned to "My recordings", in the morning...my faves never defaulted that I can remember.

Could you explain "Return to My Recordings"?
There is no favorite list called "My Recordings"

Well wouldn't this have been nice?
