I was curious if you had any ideas on why the following issue is occuring.

I am using a 722k with Sling adapter and the correct Dish Wireless Adapter. It's set up and I have verified Internet Connectivity in Broadband setup. I have also verified that my 3Mbps DSL connection is appropriate by running the Sling verifyer on the Dish website.

The issue I am having is that from any device most of the time it says my DVR Receiver is off and therefore it cannot stream any Recordings to my device. However, if I hit LiveTV it will Start up the DVR (Even if it's off), authenticate with it and stream LiveTV no problem. Now knowing that the DVR is in fact on, I go to the DVR status in the iOS app or PC app and it still says offline. The Guide will not allow me to select a channel and watch LiveTV, the only thing that works is hitting the LiveTV button.

The only way I can get the DVR to stream recordings is by cutting power for 10 seconds and booting it up, it will then usually say the DVR is online and let me stream recordings or switch channels using the guide.

To summarize my problem:

The DVR will state that it is offline in all of the Dish Online apps. Using the Reconnect button does not work.

The LiveTV button works fine all of the time, even turning on the DVR when it is off or in sleep mode. Regardless, this does not affect its online status in the Dish Online apps.

Can usually only get the DVR to appear online if I cut power to the box for 10 seconds, however, after a few hours it goes back to a status of Offline and stays that way, regardless of if its actually on or not.

Hardware: 722k DVR, Sling Adapter, and Dish Wireless Adapter (with good signal).

Thanks!

I searched for similar threads and found a couple about the 722 not being detected online, however, no thread had a solid resolution. If this problem has been resolved if you could please direct me to the resolution that would be great.

This is a well-known issue that has been going on for ages. I used to have that problem a lot until suddenly it stopped. I don't know if Dish will ever fix that issue. I was really pissed off but I would have been more pissed off if my Sling Adapter wasn't free after the rebate. It made my Sling Adapter useless (except for Live TV) for about 4 months until finally it suddenly decided to work again (this was when I had my 722Ks.) Now that I upgraded to my Hoppers/Joeys, I had yet another issue with the Sling Adapter for about a month to where all it would show is a black screen when I tried to Sling Live TV or anything for that matter. I just got a software update last night and it appears to have finally fixed this issue. I don't know if the 722K issue is fixable via a software update on the 722K or what. All I know is that the 722K hasn't had a software update in quite a while now (about 6 months.) I hope they haven't abandoned the 722K, because it's still far from perfect (but still better than almost anything the competition has.)

It is an issue our programmers and engineers are working on. Some customers have resolved the issue by placing the receiver in the DMZ of the router and ensuring UPnP is enabled.

Please PM me your make/model of your modem/router and your ISP provider. The 722/722k have not been abandoned. The 922 receiver had a software release a short time ago so my guess is the 722 will probably have an update soon. Thanks.

Please include your receiver number. Thanks.

Ray - I have a 722K and am experiencing the same problems. I just found your post after consulting for hours with DISH to no avail. They told me it was my router setup. Spent more hours with my ISP provider to diagnose - however, bottom line - the router is not the issue unless it is setting up the UPnP as you indicated. Problem is, no one has posted or "walked me thru" how to do this. I could spend more time researching this but am totally frustrated that if this is a "known problem", then why is this information NOT listed on the Slingbox or Dish online FAQ or troubleshooting sections? I am a senior and not a techie, so I am doing the best I can to keep the networks up and running in this household, but get lost with the terms. Is it possible that if you or anyone sees this that you could please walk me thru how to "place the receiver in the DMZ of the router & ensure UPnP is enabled"? I have a 722K Dish receiver and a Century Link router PK5001Z. I am using a "wireless" option, not plugged in directly to a router/modem but connected with a telephone line to the receiver for callerid. The signal is suitable. I have used a Linksys and a AT&T Verizon router in the past and neither one worked with the "distant option". What I mean by that is I would get the "receiver is offline" message as well when on travel. When my daughter was at my house visiting or if I was on travel & my spouse was at home, the option worked - the receiver was on and they were watching tv. If no one is home, we are dead in the water. What can we do to ensure we can log on and watch or schedule recordings when away? There is no one there to turn on the receiver and according to how this is advertised, it is supposed to work for us when we are not there. There must be "something" in the setup that must be accomplished, but I do not know what. Your post was the first heard for me and I want to try that, but it would be helpful to me, and I'm sure others, if you could post some step-by-step instructions. "Slingbox for Dummies"? Thank you in advance for the kindness of your reply.

Do you have the manual that came with your router? If you call your Internet provider they should be able to show you how to enable UPNP if your router supports it and if not, they should show you were the put the 722's IP address in the router settings. (DMZ). There is a website with screen shots that may help you as well, but I didn't look enough to see if these options are available on your specific router.
