I hope DTV sticks to their guns, which they won't (they never do). Viacom, FOX, Comcast/NBC, Disney/ABC/ESPN, CBS, AMC Networks, et al are killing the pay TV industry by holding consumers hostage and running roughshod over MVPDs without any FCC restraint. Worse yet, they expect MVPDs to pay more and more for their increasingly devalued programming which they readily (and in many cases freely) make available via various online portals as early as the next day.
Here's their argument "Pay us more while we undercut your business model, force you to carry more meaningless channels providing more mindless programming, and hey - your consumers can't live without Jersey Shore, Sponge Bob, Fairly Odd Parents, MTV without music, yada, yada, yada ...."
Ironically, these are the same networks screaming at DISH for supposedly ruining their profit model (i.e. Auto-Hop) when the reality is they've been shooting themselves in the foot all along.
