Let me change my prediction. The Giants will sweep the Dodgers and will leave 2.5 games up.

I've seen every Giants game this year and these are two of the best games they've played, especially defensively and Lincecum hasn't looked that good all year. Hope you're right, but the Giants have been here before and haven't been closing out a series even when the matchups favored them, except for the last series in LA. Strange outcomes this season, though with Giants sweeping in LA, then LA coming back and sweeping in SF. We may be better off with the last three in LA.

He is amazing. His last 5 HRs..all in the last 5 games....have all been over 425+ feet. He has missed 30 games and still tied for 3rd in the NL.

In a game earlier this year against the Giants he knocked a piece off that sculpture (or whatever they call it) in centerfield with a line drive that looked like it was still rising. Just hope he never hits a drive back through the mound.

I see the Marlins are coming to town this weekend. I will have to go to Dodger Stadium and check that bad boy out for myself. I haven't seen him in person in awhile. I imagine he's about 7 feet tall by now!!!!

LOL! "grandfathered in" thanks to his dad. The WORST thing about Joe Buck is he ACTUALLY thinks he is witty and funny.

I dont think Buck is that bad. When hes on his game, he could be really good. Lets face it, Joe Buck doesnt live under a rock. Im sure he knows theres some negative criticism about him.

With the 3 runs scored in the first, this game is now officially over. The Giants sweep the Dodgers.

The last three series between these teams have all resulted in sweeps, alternating between teams.

Giants sweep Dodgers (shutouts all three games)
Dodgers sweep Giants
Now Giants sweep Dodgers again (will be a sweep in 8 more inning).

I wonder if the next series will have the Dodgers sweep the Giants?

The Rays got guts and heart. They never give up. Remember them last year?? There scrappy as hell. Should be a good 2 team race between the Yankees and the Rays.

If Dice-K is given Aaron Cook's spot in the rotation, he would get in eight starts this year. Then his contract runs out.

He now has a new arm. What if he pitches "lights out" for the remainder of the season? He's only 30 years old.

I have a question and I apologize in advance for sounding naive. Its my understanding that the top 2 wild card teams play in a one game playoff. What if one or both of the teams are tied for there division? So in other words, lets say the Pirates and the Braves are the wild card teams. What happens if the Braves are tied with the Nationals and the Pirates are tied with the Reds?

I saw an article on this scenario either on ESPN or SI.com, but their scenario was even more complicated and involved a number of ties. It appears it could be a a complete nightmare and the survivors wouldn't have a pitching staff left for the playoffs. Your scenario isn't possible because the wild card teams wouldn't be decided until the divisions are decided, so the Braves & Nats would have a one-game playoff as would the Pirates and Reds. The losers would then be the wild-card teams (assuming they had the 2 best records outside of division champs) and they would have a one-game playoff. In any even, the division championship would be decided first and then wild cards determined.

Angels and Sox played what was probably the best game of the year.

14-13 and back and forth all game long.

If only the fans started showing up more and more. You'd think this hot streak would spike attendance at games.
