I was looking into the Superstations that Dish offers. Are they just for the CW network? That's what it looks like. I was hoping they would be NBC,CBS,ABC and Fox from different regions. I may get one of them from the west coast just to get some news from that region. Does anyone have them and if so do you recommend them? Thanks again for the info!

2 of them (WWOR & WSBK) are My Network affiliates...the other 3 are CW

the FCC rule of a Superstation (as written from the 70s are)
In its most precise meaning, a superstation is defined by the Federal Communications Commission as "A television broadcast station, other than a network station, licensed by the FCC that is secondarily transmitted by a satellite carrier.

The stations use to be Independent but are associated with (at the time) UPN, WB and now CW & My

I use to sub to them, but dropped them because they're all in SD...Once they go HD, if ever, I'll reconsider adding them back.

Same here. I realized not only do I not watch them anymore (all the shows are on my locals, and they lost most all sports), and they look like garbage in SD, why am I paying?

DISH needs to provide Hd versions of the superstations, if they intend to keep selling these to anyone with HD receivers and tvs. Otherwise SD versions are a waste of bandwith ,because the pq sucks big time.

A reminder: There will NEVER be any more Superstations. WGN's cable channel is almost completely different than channel 9 Chicago. WTBS no longer exists in Atlanta. The OTA station is WPCH now. TBS is a cable channel. KWGN, KTLA, WSBK, WWOR and WPIX are the last remaining superstations and a relic from the 70s when there weren't enough cable channels to fill a 24 channel line-up.

The Superstations probably won't ever go HD on a national basis. The only reason WGN, as mentioned above, is available in HD nationally is because it's a totally different feed from its Chicago version and no longer a superstation. If I woke up one day and saw WWOR and WPIX out of my home territory in HD through my Dish subscription here in Erie...I'd enjoy it while I can, because the stations around here would probably invoke Syndex for the first time ever.

i believe that Mr. Evil has identified the real reason we do not see HD versions of the superstations.

For those areas with OUT a HD or Sd CW in their locals pack an HD version is an necessity. My home town Beaumont/Pt.Arthur has no Cw in its DISH locals pack and the ota version is crappy SD. That is why a lot in my area "moved" to Houston (90 miles away) to get all our locals and PBS in HD. IF DISH would offer hd versions ala cart they could be making additional money off of these area with no HD CW or PBS. Instead we have to "move" to get them.

I think if DISH offered supers ina format superior to the way they offer the local affiliate of the network you qould see a great increase in syndex claims.

Years ago when TBS, WGN, etc, were superstations, they were worth watching. Now the programming is boring, except when they show movies on the weekend. I liked WWOR back in the day, until it was removed. I checked the schedule on the new superstations Dish offers. Most are like the old ones are now, dedicated to showing one or two shows all day long. Not too super anymore...IMO.

They are CW MY Tv and I think one independent.
I have had them since day one. 1997. I keep them because there are two channels from the NYC DMA that I watch the news as well as Mets and Yankees games. I keep them because I am from that area.

Everyone has HD now so the super stations in SD is not worth the high price any more.
It is almost a rip off.
Dish needs to cut the price in half since its not in HD. I bet dish might even make more money then more might sign up with a lower ala carte price.

I still watch them, and do get WWOR in HD because I am in the spotbeam. I enjoy the news on KTLA and KWGN also. And I don't see how it is thought the cost high. Some of you scream about wanting A La Carte, well this is at the low end of A La Carte. But some of us have tried to explain how that works......
