Hopper/Joey deals for existing customer?

I have been trying to find out prices for the Hopper/Joey for existing customers.
It used to be that I could log in to DISH online and find which equipment I am eligible to upgrade to and the price. I could order it online and all would be good. Now I can't find any information about this. Does anyone know if DISH has any promotions for existing customers that are out of a contract?

I called up Dish and the service rep said it was $300 to upgrade to the new hopper. It seems a bit outrageous to have to pay $300 to upgrade when I have only had the service less than 5 months. Had I known about the new features I would have just waited.

Only having service for less than 5 months is exactly why it's costing you that much. You do not qualify for the best price since you have barely been with Dish. I'm not sure why you find it so outrageous.

If you had and install or an upgrade, you are not allowed another upgrade for the next 12 months. You are allowed to buy the equipment if you want new equipment during that time which is why you were quoted the $300. Sorry you didn't know about the new features, but since Dish didn't announce them until the CES show, no one else did either.

I'm not sure about that 12 month rule you mentioned. I'm pretty sure you can upgrade much sooner than that but usually there is a upgrade cost associated. I'm not 100 percent on that but I'm pretty certain.

I've installed plenty of upgrades where they didn't buy the equipment and it has been less than 12 months. It may be either incorrect or something they waive fairly often.
 
After they look at your account to see what you subscribe to, how much money they get from you, then the pull out the Magic 8 ball to see what offer they will give you! :)

Over the years it has been funny to watch people try to figure out how upgrades work, and honestly the Magic 8 Ball seems to be as much of a real answer as any other.

That rule has apparently been thrown out. I upgraded to the Hopper last March and now just upgraded to the Hopper with Sling and was still a plan A customer. I've never actually been out of contract with Dish since having their TV service. I signed up as a new customer and got the 922, while under that commitment I upgraded to the Hopper and while under that commitment I just upgraded to the new Hopper.

If you are responding to my last post there was nothing special about my situation. I get treated no different than anyone else here from Dish. I'm just another customer to them, they have no idea I am a retailer an even if they did they do not offer any discounts to us.
 
I wasnt happy with the offer they made me and I have been a very long term customer getting a full package. I rarely upgrade. The way it looks to me is that it makes far more sense to me to go to Direct Tv and get the free equipment and a ton of service credits and such. Between equipment savings, and other credits I save $500.00 up front before even calculating the rest. Loyalty doesnt make sense. The same works for a Directtv customer moving over to Dish although I think the savings on the 24 months might not be as much. They will get the Hopper/Joey for free at least.
 
Yep, you have posted that about three times now. Might as well just do it...
 
Before I even think about upgrading one of my Hoppers, I need to invest in a EHD for my movies, trying to hold off though as I don't think I would really use Hopper transfers a lot and I do have sling already on one of my hoppers But the new technology bug gets me :)

lparsons21, how do you like your Hopper w/Sling? I see you have both versions. Do you see much improvement in the new version?
 
Dirt Team members, can we get a better deal with you or with Customer Service? Back in December I called Customer Service about a possible upgrade to Hoppers. They would not deal with me because I presently have four DVRs and want to upgrade to three Hoppers and two Joeys. He said another Dish department will have to contact me. They did call me back with an offer. Told them I would get with the wife and call back after we got back home from a Xmas trip. Haven't called back yet so was just wondering what you think about dealing with you or Customer Service. I would think it doesn't make any difference but not sure. Also, what is this Dish department that deals with more than two DVRs? Thanks for your help.
