I have been a Dish customer for years and I'm thinking about upgrading my internet/phone with Frontier Communications. They say they can bundle my Dish service with them and save money. They also say nothing will change with my Dish service, it will just be included on their bill. Can anybody tell me if this is a good idea? I have Dish America Silver, which I don't want to loose, as I don't think it's even offered anymore. Thanks -Ken

We have a lot of customers that do it and they seem to like the convenience. I myself do not like it but I'm a retailer and have to try and help people with their accounts. Gets confusing sometimes.

The disadvantage (or used to be) to bundling is being able to take advantage of special offers and upgrades. In the past, many were unable to participate, in that they were/are technically customers of the telco, not Dish. Over the years, the general consensus here has been No Bundling.

it depends on how the Telco does it on their end
are they just rebilling you (so Dish bills them and they bill you) or
are the reselling it?

There is a big difference. If they are just rebilling it I'd say go for it. I have my DIrectv billed through my telco (Centurylink formerly Qwest). Directv bills Centurylink who passes the pricing on to me with a discount at the end. If I make any changes (programming, equipment) I call Directv. Only time I call Centurylink is if there is a billing issue

If they resell it, then I wouldn't do it. You would have to call Frontier for EVERYTHING...programming changes, equipment issues, etc

I'm pretty certain all the major companies that bundle with dish handle the billing but the tech support is handled by a dish partner trained agent who is able to understand the billing processes as well.

It's not as bad as it use to be but it just can complicate things a bit when you want to upgrade since you are given a new account number once you bundle.

Thanks for the input. I will try to find out if they are rebilling or reselling the Dish service. Frontier must be making some money on this plan somehow, plus they are giving me a slightly better overall deal if I bundle. I would hate to have to go through Frontier if I have Dish service or equipment issues. It's hard enough to communicate with them on telco issues.

Don't do it. Frontier takes over the billing and you get treated like a second class citizen every time you call Dish and are told to deal with frontier.

Not worth the customer service hassle, plus you don't qualify for any promotions through Dish.

And if your acct # changes you may have problems with viewing EHD content.

Okay, I'm not going to do it. Thanks for bringing up these potential issues that I had not considered. I have learned so much from this forum over the years. Much thanks to all.

Personally I have Dish, Frontier telephone and Frontier broadband(DSL). I won't bundle because I like the flexibility to dump a service if its not fitting my needs. And they gave me a price on bundling and I would save about $20.00 per month but that is with a contract for 2 years of which I would lose the discount after the first year.

Do Not Bundle................... I just left E* in Nov. paid my ETF went with D*............... I had 90 days to get a copy of the bill for the ETF still don't have one 85 days later. I tried Chat, phone (three times) and the DIRT team. all to no avail. last phone call to dish-net:mad: i told them to e-mail it because of the time left. nothing yet.

this whole deal was messed up just because of the BUNDLE deal! the phone co did my billing .! as it stands now i have canceled the payment for the ETF waiting for the billing to send to D*............... if this doesn't work out in my favor it will cost me $192.50 and i will be pi&&ed off...............!!!

The bill is in the e-mail! ;)

I got on through dish by signing up via AT&T in 2005. The best thing to happen was the day I un-bundled. If I had a problem when I was with AT&T the AT&T reps knew nothing and told me to contact DISH and when I contacted DISH they informed me that I was a customer of AT&T and that I had to deal with them. It just was not worth the $5/month in savings. Anyways the best thing to happen was that I had to move and my cousin already had AT&T at his place so I called AT&T and the contacted DISH and somehow got me un-bundled and signed up for DISH mover and I've been with DISH ever since 2007.
