Thursday afternoon the local cable is going back in for my TV service. Not many complaints about my 2 years on Dish. Local RSN HD full time would have been nice as would have been the Disney ABC stuff in HD. I got on board too early to get Hopper and since I wasn't a new customer anymore, Dish wasn't going to do me any favors cost wise to upgrade. The folks at Time Warner had the right promo at the right time. There are limits again vs Dish as there were the other way when I switched to Dish. There's no way to duplicate everything exactly the same. As has been said many times in these forums, "Do what is best for you". I think this is what is best for me right now. I'll be lurking for sure and will jump in if I feel I can be of assistance. This forum has been informative and at times entertaining. Thanks to everybody for the help and information when I needed it.

That's totally true do what's right for you,but if you don't like your cable experience the latest I have heard is you can come back to DISH in 3 or 4 months and even though you would not be considered a new customer you would still get the new customer deals.Good Luck!:)

I don't blame you honestly...

I was just looking at my bill myself and my equipment costs per month are almost as much as my programming costs.

Scott I know I might be hijacking this thread but is the price increase in the Hopper forum going to affect everybody or just Hopper customers? On Social Security DISH is getting close to my maximum.

Unless someone didn't care about what they spent, I would think that at least half the people usually look at all these offers floating around and consider switching providers. This is true particularly if they see $5 + $11 ($4) = $16 ($9) in increases plus their promotional price ending on top of that along with another one being offered to them by a competitor.

I'll be going to cable when my 2 year D* contract expires. I've enjoyed both E* and D*, but will take advantage of new cable sub deals for 2 years, and then switch back to satellite when those discounts expire.

I get exactly where your at. I feel the same about direct tv. It seems that the satelite companies don't always get it. I would assume they would care just as much for loyal customers as opposed to new ones. Unfortunately this is not the case. I've run into issues with direct that they
Will only give upgrades to new subs. That's my experience.
I'm out of contract and have been tempted to
Cancel many times. However I've always paid for all my sports packages. I wonder if you cut the cord finally will they offer you something down the road. I should not have to play these games.

Once these extra hopper equipment fees go into affect mine will be about the same. I already dropped from AEP to the AT250. My first drop in programming ever.

Welcome to my world. I started with AEP + superstations and distant locals back in 97 I downgraded to top 250 and 1 premium . Then dropped down to top 200 and NO premium, except when they are free or 1/2price. This latest increase I dropped to top 120 and gave up a joey. I can still drop off one joey and if I have to , drop the other hopper off . After that I guess I could go with Welcome pack and then its cut the cord . DISH has consistently pushed me to drop programming and equipment each time they hike their programming and or equipment fees. This time it is both.

I wonder if Dish will start forcing upgrades to get everyone on the Hopper, then they get the extra fees from everyone.

I started dropping equipment a few months ago, and programming is next. I just don't see the value anymore.
Sports is keeping me in a paid subscription. OTA and a some online services provides enough, even if I am a year behind on some shows.

I know exactly what you mean. We have to keep it because of sports and for Walking Dead! I know you can get Walking Dead the day after on iTunes and Amazon but we like to watch it day of. It's like an event every Sunday! As much as I like Dish and the Hopper I will be looking at other deals when our contract is up. I can take a modest increase a year but if they keep jacking up programming fees and equipment fees we will leave for sure. I don't care how good the Hopper is.
