NEW DISH Pricing as of May 23, 2013

One more thing...

With the original posting it was not me or any SatelliteGuys staff who posted it... it instead was a forum question posted by a member and answered by a DISH staff member.

I in fact held off at posting to that thread for a long time as the news upset me as well.

It was not a rumor, it was a question that was asked by a member and that was answered by DISH.

I am not a DISH cheerleader, I am not a DIRECTV cheerleader... I am just a fan of SATELLITE. I will always tell you my honest opinion no matter if that opinion is good or bad against either company. Again take a listen to my comments on the "Satellite Nation" radio show on Wednesday night and you will see I don't sugar coat anything.

Again I say THANK YOU to DISH for listening to our members and THANK YOU to our members who worked together to make a difference.

The post in the screenshot says it all, neither myself or dare2be were even the original poster. However this post confirms it without a doubt that this was not a rumor. I also strongly believe that this thread played a big role in the news that you posted today.

No matter what company it is, it's amazing that there's some real good news regarding fees and cost and someone had to be a real downer about it

Man Stewart must have been dropped on his head a lot as a kid... there is no other way to explain it.

He acts like this was some covert info that Scott was given that ended up being incorrect. It was a Dish employee for God's sake, who posted it on the Internet for the entire planet to see. What a dumbass! I would never spend any time over at that dump...no matter what provider I was with.

Btw, anyone know if TommyF is still around? Being that he was the one who chimed in to start all this, I wonder how things ended up for him. I hope he was given the okay to speak out on that when he did. If not...yikes.

He's still here, I see him online pretty regularly. However that was his last post in that thread.

DIRT folks are dish's finest imo & on top of their game. This is just pure speculation, but it is very possible they were sent on a mission to test the waters on new fees. If true, it's a brilliant move on dish's part. Like it or not social media is the new battle ground on many fronts.

Good to hear. I agree that could be the case. If they were testing the waters, I figure those waves won't calm down for a while after this. At least, I hope.

Against my better judgment, I posted in the DBS thread. It fell on deaf brain cells.

Here is proof that this site was quoted on dish's site for retailers.

I blacked out user info & this can be easily confirmed by other retailers with access.

I did not participate in this conversation.

I have to applaud Dish for at least grandfathering existing subs until the next price increase (maybe beyond that, but I suspect that one day they will do the price hike).

Essentially 2 price increases in the same year is not a very cool thing to do. At least now you know in advance what your fee will be.

The other thing that Mr. Vernon doesn't get is that not only was the first announcement not just a rumor (he thinks it was because it was ultimately changed), but he doesn't realize that the accurate info posted originally was subsequently changed for the better due to our "going nuts". So they should be thanking SatGuys, not pointing fingers over "rumors".

Very important point. It would seem neither was a rumor. While the first set of increases was not meant to be public yet, it was considered accurate. The new increase posting is a change from the first after some rethinking at Dish.

The big problem with that site is that the E* moderators are E* fanboys and the D* moderators are D* fanboys.
Sometimes they post in a thread and it seems like they didn't even read what they've been replying to.

Oh man... This is great news. Wonder how long the grandfather status will last? I wonder if changing programming packages or anything of the sort would lose the status?

Sent from my iPhone 4S using Forum Runner
I would hope that the Grandfather status would at least remain until the 2 year contract expires.

Programming Changes

DishLATINO Plus - Going from $37.99 to $41.99 a month ($4 a month increase)
Multi-Sport Package - Going from $9.00 a month to $11.00 a month ($2 a month increase)
Outdoor Sports Package - Going from $3.00 a month to $4.00 a month ($1 a month increase)

That one I really noticed - didn't they just bump it up from $7.00 to $9.00 last year, and now they are bumping it up again by another $2?

Reading the info sent to me from Dish I am reading this as existing customers with two Hoppers will see a $5 increase for the second Hopper starting 5/22. The first Hopper DVR fee will remain $10. For all new and existing customers that get a Hopper or two Hoppers they will see the higher prices on both Hoppers.

Dish also mentions a new Alternate Offer that will be available 5/22. This is suppose to be some huge surprise because they won't announce it until Team Summit. It is suppose to separate Dish from everyone else. I can't imagine it being that big of deal though.
