I saw a blurb somewhere awhile back about a new MicroHD receiver due out soon. What's the status? I am considering moving my present MicroHD to my cabin and use it paired with my BUD but have been waiting until I can replace it with the next new unit.
Any idea when the new equipment will be ready to ship?
Thanks

A new GEOSATpro model, the HDVR1200 will be delivered to Glorystar customers by April, 2013. The unit will be further developed for FTA/Hobbyist usage and released for general FTA sales in May or June.

The microHD will continue to be be in production for the next year or two with continuing firmware development.

Whats new and improved with the HDVR1200 over the MicroHD. I am thinking of buying soon and now confused? Thanks

If you are buying in the next few months, only consider the microHD. If looking to buy in late spring, check out the features and user reviews once the HDVR1200 is sold with hobbyist features then decide.

The decision on what to buy should be based on what is available, not a product announcement. :D

I might add: buy what is mature.
Lot of receivers on the market for some time, but still working out the kinks.
That's why I started a thread to encourage reevaluation of hardware reviews yearly.
That would highlight improvements, as well as abandoned products.

microHD priced at $125.00 canadian which is pretty fair price for what you get. Anybody have an idea on price range of HDVR1200 and is it designed for USA like micro??

Does it do 4:2:2 :sob: ??

Seriously, May has never felt so far away. The S10 is crapping out on me so am in the same boat...buy now or later.

Cheers, K

As new chipsets are introduced, we evaluate and make our selection based on the implementation of desired features. We believe that the Novatek chipset best matches the feature set identified for the HDVR1200.

Anything in this chipset of note for us hobbyist suffering from tinker and tweak syndrome............any SoICs out there capable of DVBS/2 modes plus ATSC yet?

I know that horse carcass was thoroughly abused during the uHD discussions in it's infancy.........but this IS a new chipset......so allow me to raise the 1st club to begin the horse beating ....again...lol

but why a new chipset instead of microHD set??

The uHD has some limitations with timers, clock, and USB port due to the hardware. (as discussed in another thread) Hopefully the new hardware will overcome these limitations, but most likely will come with a new set of problems. This will give you the choice of selecting the box that best meets your purpose.

P.S. as with all boxes, there will be some limitations and the few mentioned here are easily worked around. (at least for my purpose)
